  1. Hello all

PLEASE i need some advice ASAP. Fungus gnats have returned (no shock..little bastards love shitting on my hard work)

I could not get to a nursery for proper fungus gnat insectisides...but i did manage to get a Fruitfly poison which states that the active ingredient contains : Cypermethrin (pyrethroid)

Will this kill fungus gnats?? Also is it completely harmless to plants?

    Thanks!!

  2. personally after 5 hours of research I found mosquito dunks with yellow insect stick pads are the best mosquito dunks kill larva yellow sticky pads show how bad your infestation is and kills adults to reduce population their attracted to yellow

  3. They won't hurt your plants but they are annoying and they get into lights and fans and die….and accumulate over time.

I use lots of sticky traps and keep a lot of air movement blowing right onto the plants. And I wipe everything down and clean up the grow area all the time. I put the traps near the base of the pots because they seem to like to congregate around the drainage holes. I also dry my plants out completely before each watering. They prefer damp soil to dry.

  4.
Yeah ive read about the yellow pads to. But i do not have any yellow pads only the Fruityfly poision - looking to permanently remove these little guys.... So my question was will the active ingredients as mentioned in my first post kill gnats

  5.
Fungus gnats completely retard the growth of plants. There larvae eats through the roots

  6. yes and no as I have researched I found the active ingredients kill the flies themselves but not larvae which flies don't hurt the plant it's there larvae that eat fungus and destroy anything in there path like roots

  7. Definitely go for the yellow stickys. They work perfect and only in a matter of a couple days your problem will be under control.

It can be anything YELLOW and STICKY. Good luck bro, as this fixed my problem almost instantly.

  8. Azo max worked for me. Sprayed twice 3 days apart when lights were off and haven't seen a gnat in a few days

  9. Wow, I had no idea those things hurt plant growth! I always thought they were just an annoyance. I get them in the tent. I set the yellow sticky traps. The roots grow SO fast for me, i can't imagine gnats being able to keep up. They might be eating the roots, but I've never seen any damage from them. I'd be much more wary of applying anything to a flowering plant and then smoking that plant later on. Chemicals go into the plant tissue. I'll continue to fight them with sticky traps, though.

  10. Azo Max is organic and says it can be applied the day of harvest and still be safe. Ofcourse it would be pointless to spray them on the day of harvest but it's nice to know lol

  11. Mosquito dunks mixed in with a half inch of sand ontop of soil will do it.  Oh yeah add the sticky traps.  With the sand they can't get to the soil.  Worked for me.  But ultimately the only way I got rid of all them was got rid of soil.  I am now a water farmer and never see them.

  12. Go on amazon and get some pure pyrethrin and mosquito dunks.

Dont know what theyve been feeding these gnats but imo theyre building a resistance to common treatments.

I'd wait till the soil is somewhat dry, then vacuum the top layer off(this removes the majority of the gnats and eggs). Spray neem on that, put an inch of sand and spray that with neem oil too. Then put up yellow sticky traps at the base of the stem. Repeat if necessary.

  14. I'm surprised nobody has said to use Diatomaceous earth. Food grade is what you need not the pool filter stuff. it cuts the gnats as they come out of the soil. If you keep a layer on your soil, you should get rid them relatively quick.

  15. Lots of air on the plants, let the soil dry out and sticky cards, works like a charm. They thrive in moist soil. I know from experience. Also, noords is correct, larvae eat the roots and will stunt growth. So let that soil dry out and get some sticky cards.

  16. I was thinking the same thing.
I actually just started using DE today and in just 8 hours it already appears to be working better than azamax ever has. Gnats were a huge problem for me but now it looks like I won't be having any more issues with them. Great stuff!

  17. Crumble up some neem cake into your soil/top dress with it. (neemresource.com)

  18. I have been spraying Bayer rtu neem and their concentrate. I have soaked my soil 10 fold and sprayed my plants down like crazy. It's not working?

Jerry do I have fake neem
