Hey, I have been looking for a vaiable speed fan control that is regulated by temperature so that I can keep a minimun fan speed for my scrubber at all times but automatically increase fan speed as temp rises. I finally found one!!!! http://www.phason.ca/vtc1d.htm Variable Temperature Control (VTC-1D) One of our most popular variable speed fan controls The Variable Temperature Control (VTC-1D) automatically controls the temperature in a room by adjusting the speed of variable speed fans. When the temperature is at the temperature set point, the VTC-1D operates the fans at the idle speed setting. When the temperature exceeds the set point, the VTC-1D increases the speed. When the temperature drops below the set point, the VTC-1D shuts off the fans (in shut-off mode) or operates the fans at idle speed (idle mode). The VTC-1D is ideal for poultry, livestock, greenhouse, or light-industrial buildings. Features One variable speed output Automatic shut-off and idle modes Adjustable off set-back for shut-off mode (0 to 16F) Adjustable idle speed for idle mode (0 to 99%) Adjustable temperature set point Adjustable temperature differential (1 to 20F) Three-second full-power-turn-on to minimize fan ice-up Two-digit LED display Fahrenheit and Celsius display Error code display for troubleshooting Overload protection fuse Six-foot temperature probe, extendable to 500 feet Rugged enclosure (corrosion resistant, water resistant, and fire retardant) CSA approval Two-year limited warranty Electrical ratings Input: 115/230 VAC, 50/60 Hz Variable stage: 10 FLA Fuse: 15 A, 250 VAC ABC-type ceramic Looks like a pretty sweet unit!!!! About $210 US though, but cool none the less. Anyone used one of these or anything similar? How well do they work? Any other units like this you'd recommend instead? Thanks, Joe
Yeah, my wife would be pretty pissed off if I burned down the house with some homemade gizmo!!! I'll stick to the pre-wired stuff.
can also look into www.newegg.com they have great fan controllers with digi outputs as well as thermostats.
you could make one that did the same thing for under $50 with a normal wall mounted thermostat and a ceiling fan dimmer and you could customize it to control input and output easily. link-- http://www.ukcultivator.biz/showthread.php?t=312&highlight=fan+speed (its a uk one but its basically the same)
