"the wave"

  1. i consider myself to be a reasonably calm person, but there is one thing that gets pisses me off more than it prolly should..."the wave".

you know, when you let someone maybe pulling out of a parking lot or something get out in front of you and they don't give you the courtesy thank you wave.

    does this bother anyone else?

  2. I always wave to people, I get easily frustrated when I drive kinda like a road rage, I flip people off and beep at em all the time :p But I never forget a thank you wave!

  3. Sounds like a Seinfeld rant, haha. I always do like getting the wave though, and I always give one too. I'm a courteous driver.

  4. the book titled "the wave" bothered me more. that's a really shitty book.

  5. I thought you were talking about that two wheel skateboard thing.

  6. i thought he was talkin bout the wave that fans do at sporting events haha, it was a 90s thing

  7. I always give the peace sign because i've usually got a skateboard on me so people assume i'm violent... I'm just another hippy... It's more safe to go out with my frisbee or guitar.

  8. im a big supporter of the wave, giving it and getting it. if you don't do the wave, you are a dick to me, and i'll be pretty pissed

  9. I wouldnt even think about "the wave". In my neck of the woods, it could easily be mistaken for any number of other rude gestures. And that could get my ass shot the hell up.

If it can be done in an obvious way, then i'm all for it. But be careful on the roads. People are fucking animals...

  10. thats exactly what I was thinking... good ole' Seinfeld

  11. I'm all about the wave, but there's something that does piss me off. Here's the scenario: You arrive slightly after another car at a four-way stop. Both cars sit at the intersection as it becomes apparent that neither driver knows what the other is thinking. Then, the driver of the vehicle arriving first flashes his lights or signals with a hand for you to proceed. The wave is worse, as it allows you the chance to see the reaction of the other driver, who often seems to believe that you were the hold-up at the intersection. As if it couldn't get worse, sometimes the opposite driver expects a courtesy wave in response to the flash or the wave ahead as if they were granting a favor. The entire situation would be avoided if people paid attention and followed the rules about the right of way at a four-way stop, but it's a crazy world out there. George is getting upset!

  12. maybe they are "the wave nazi"
    "no wave for you!"

  13. If they don't give "the wave" while we're all in rush hour traffic, it makes it even worse.

  14. us truckers cant wave (big trailor behind) so we use our hazard lights (2 flashes) to say thanks. I use it in my MR2 all the time too.
To answer your question, yes, it really pisses me off. but not as much as when dickheads pull out infront of me when im driving a 34tonne truck that wont stop in time

  15. at that point i pull out my shotty liek john gotti XD

  16. i was just talking about that book last night. i think it was a good book. good as in story line and shit. maybe that it was based on true events tho helped persuade me.
    i like the movie too.

  17. i really wouldnt let something like that get to me ,if someone dosent give you a thankyou wave ,then fuck em ,no point in getting angry .:D

  18. didn't know there was a movie...might have to check it out.

i liked the book when i first read it, in 6th grade or something. but since then i've read things like 1984 and new world order, so i guess they just overshadow the wave for me now. (as i read back over this i sound kind of snobby...sorry, i don't mean to be)

  19. In my opinion, people not giving the wave is the number one reason for the breakdown of society.

  20. the movie i believe goes by the same name.

i think that there should be some sort of acknowledgment of courtesy. i wouldnt go so far as to say that it has caused the breakdown of our society but i think that it has made peoples attitudes toward other drivers a lot worse.
you know i was walking to my friends house the other day and i was in a cross walk on Greenway and Cave Creek and im only like half way through the intersection and this dude stops and lets me go but he has like 20 feet before me so im like whatever i will just keep going. and then he fucking has the balls to honk at me when i get in front of him like hurry the fuck up. and so i flipped him off and he pulled over into the parking lot and yelled at me and so i threw a river rock through his window. then i skated away.
    he should have just gone.
