The Vault’s Candy Dawg Auto Comp Grow – Seed Stockers (CoCo & Fogponic)

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by Gelato41, Mar 29, 2019.

  1. Journal for
The Vault’s Candy Dawg Auto Comparative Grow – in association with Seed Stockers

    Sponsors:
The Vault's for setting up the comparative grow.
Seed Stockers - Candy Dawg Auto seeds

The House of Hydro - 3 disc ultra sonic mister
    General Hydroponics - Flora series

    Growing Method/Medium:
Primary grow Coco/Perlite mix 70/30 drain to waste. (4 seeds)
Secondary grow Fogponic/DWC hybrid. (1 seed)
Two bucket setup Fog bucket and Root chamber.
    Lighting:
    T5HO flouro for seedlings.
    4000k LED boards for seedlings.
    315 CMH for vegging/flowering.

    The Plan:
I was trying to come up with a useful and entertaining comparative grow. The main goal was to keep things simple and useful for any new growers to follow along and use as a reference. One thing that tends to irritates me is how complicated first time growers tend to make things. So the decision was made to go with things that are easy to purchase and easy to use.

However I couldn't resist the fun and challenge of trying something new. I've been dying to test out the Ultra Sonic Fog Generator House of Hydro sent me to test. So I will add a Fogponic grow to the mix just to play with. I've searched online for a full and complete Fogponic grow journal and could not find one. Alot of promising starts to a grow journals, but never a complete one. I'll post more details about the fogponic setup in another post.

  3. Here is the Fogponic Hybrid setup:
    2x Two gallon Buckets.
1x House of Hydro 3 Head Ultrasonic Mister
    1x Airstone
    1x Air pump
    1x Float valve

    The way it works:
Fog is generated in the "Fog Bucket" and pushed out of the Fog Bucket into the Root Chamber via the foghose.
The airhose and airstone is inside the Fog Bucket. Air is pumped into the Fog Bucket forcing the the nutrient rich ultrasonic fog into the root chamber.

What makes it a Fogponic Hybrid is that there is also a 1in nutrient reservoir inside the Root Chamber. As the roots get long enough into the Root Chamber they will dip into nutrient reservoir. As the plant drinks from the reservoir it will autofill from the float value. My only concern is the roots getting tangled up in the float value operation. I'll have to monitor this.

Check out the fuzzy roots on the Fog. Never seen such tiny fuzzy roots before even with an High Pressure Aero setup. Plant looks droppy. The fog is set for 1min on and 5mins off. Changed it to 1min on and 10mins off, and will see how it does this coming week.

  7. This is Day 11 to Day 16.
Running 200ppm grow formula nutrients. Ph 5.8
    Coco is chugging along.

Fogponic setup is now DOA. Couldn't get the proper timing on the fog. Will try again on the next round.
