The Terror - best show I've seen in a while

  1. Just finished watching this series. It's absolutely stunning, if you're into survival, horror, old timey ships, or stories of intense trials. It's bleak, beautifully shot, and yet inspiring.

    It's got a cast of fantastic actors, a great score, and a suspense that builds into something awesome as it shows people pushed to the very brink of sanity, and what heroism and devilry arises from desperation.

    Based on a true and equally terrifying story;

  6. Awesome man, glad you liked it!

    The second season is completely different. It follows a Japenese-American man haunted by a vengeful demon as he and his family are imprisoned in the American internment camps during WW2. It's got completely different pacing, atmosphere, challenges, and a much higher focus on things outside of the haunting alone.

    I deeply appreciated the perspective of the Japanese-American experience of WW2 - and there are some meaningful moments in the show related to that, including much of the cast being either descended from interned Japenese-Americans or having been interned themselves, such as George Takei.

    That said, I thought it was shit. My wife loved it, though.

  7. yeah man, thank you for putting it out there for me to stumble into. I loved everything about it. everything. I'll have to second your 10/10 rating.

    as for the second season, I watched the opening scene the other night, and it already felt like a step down from season 1 just from those few minutes...but, I'll still give it a chance at some point. but after feeling that, and hearing your thoughts....no rush!
