The term "busting my ass" is thrown around way too loosely

  1. I busted my ass reading this thread.

I also busted my ass walking to my mail box to get my unemployment check. Now THAT is busting my ass.

Gotta keep busting my ass walking to that mail box to pay the bills.

  2. Why do people care about other people so much....sounds like a personal problem.

    Solution = ignore it

  3. Does anyone else find "Busting my ass" and "loosely" to be funny?

I think I'm just extremely high before noon

  4. Do you even have a job?

  5. literally just noticed that right after i opened this thread...loosely busting our asses everyday

  6. True. Flipping burgers isn't a demanding job. Mentally or physically. Oh you lift boxes? Of plastic.

  7. People who actually have hard jobs.

I work at a Subway which is probably one of the easiest jobs in the world. I would never say I bust my ass to make my alright paycheck. If I was a construction worker laying down the Alaskan pipeline in the -80 degree or so weather, that would be busting my ass. Or even a construction worker doing anything really. I mean when you're doing the kind of job where you have to actively try not to get killed, that is busting your ass.

Also to the people who say I care too much about what other people say. I don't at all. It's just how people will use this term to try to create sympathy for their life when if you really think about it it's possibly nothing at all compared to some real ass lives.

SK8LIFE (sorry I'm too lazy and stoned to do multiple quotes in one post) "Stop being childish. It means to work hard which I'm sure your parents did. I dont think they were comparing themselves to do the people who built the alaskan pipeline."

But what I'm saying is, take a look at your life, do you really think what you are doing is hard? Do these middle aged men trying to be hard asses who say they busted their ass to do X really had a hard life, living in a first world country with easy access to everything we need, and most dangerous work being done by machines?

I guess my point is is that I'm fed up with my fellow Americans complaining about how life's a bitch. I've never been outside the country but I can assure you that you don't know how life's a bitch until you've been to third world Africa or something.

  8. Porn stars and hookers can say that.

  9. OP is butthurt, let's stop busting his ass

  10. I have heard that the postal service will keep you working past the time when your shift ends, and this leads to people going "postal,". So while your dad may not have been actively trying to keep himself from dying, he was actively trying to keep himself from going crazy, or losing his integrity. It's not that long of a leap to say that your Dad was working more than a 40 hour work week. If he was working ten, twelve hours a day or six, seven days a week, that could be considered busting my ass.

  11. I busted my ass doing anal last night

  12. You got yours in the end. :smoke:

  13.

But seriously, I think someone needs to call the wahhhhbulance.

    This. Get over it.

It sounds stupid for anyone to say, really.

  15. Give your pops respect for bustin his ass as a mail worker. Their pay scale is fucked. If they say you should take 4 hours to do your job, but you take 7 then guess what, you're only getting paid for 4. Working the postal service is only good if you're fast at your job.
Do your work faster than the job says it should be done, you get paid what it should have taken, plus do other routes and such for more pay.

  16. OP busted his ass writing about people busting ass while he was getting his ass busted.

  18. Man jigg I totally dont feel you on this one. No one can tell anyone how hard they work until they do the job. I drive and work at a blockbuster lol I don't use that termage but its a mentally taxing job dealing with customers period.

People who fight qnd nitpick at ever instance to get over or be little you thinking this is all you do when I work 30+ hours there and 30 at the other gig and also attend summer schooling because they (ipfw) decided that American sign language is a native tongue despite making me take 3 years of it and on my final year crossing out the elgibility to use it as a forign language at the last minute.

Thus taking my money for three years and forcing me to take summer school that I pay for so incantation qualify for Spanish 3 in the fall and grad nxt spring...when I was supposed to be finished this year...

I'm sayin bro your life may seemike a cake walk due to others busting their asses to keep you in that ungrateful bubble that you believe is life..just be glad man I'm still happy and still push on I have a kid of my own and I will do anything to have my kid live in that same ecosystem that most seem to not realize their mothers and fathers provide for them..

    Much life too ya bro

  19. Try cutting and spearing tobacco. You might literally bust your ass doing that job! Shit is brutal!

  20. No people.... what I'm saying is, it irks me how often the term "busting my ass" is used by people to describe slightly boring jobs with long hours. Working a job where you just stand around like a cashier for overtime, it sucks but that's not busting your ass. I think busting your ass is defined as having to actively try not to get injured and die. Where you actually have to go out of your way just to keep your well being, you feel me on this?
