  1. if you live in or around the houston area, you may have heard of this place. I'v been going there once a month for the past year for the parties they throw and i must say it only gets better. Art cars, fire dancers, pyronauts, lots of fun lights to look at, GREAT music, beer, body painting, art, enchanted magical blacklight forests, anything you want in a good rave like party is there so without further ado i give you the flyer they posted on myspace :D and yes even cops are there, but they are hpd there to make sure no one gets too rowdy, if you just look around and make sure you aren't RIGHT next to them, you can smoke and do anything else. many people walking around to get what you want from too... something for everyone. and if you are worried about the cops, im telling you all they do is drink beer smoke cigarettes and flirt with girls... they dont care at all :) ill post more info when i get it

Growing up in Cape Town South Africa, inspired by radio, an early interest in electronics and a Casio keyboard, Dov's involvement in music creation and production can also be traced back to the days playing with a reel to reel tape recorder and then picking up guitar in his teens. By the time he headed to University he was involved in radio show production and DJing and always had a latest mix-tape. Apartheid era South Africa enforced a draft policy and while serving in the military Dov used soccer and performing as a rhythm guitarist in the ‘minister's' band as a means for avoiding other activities.

He left South Africa in 1992 and the influences he encountered ‘on the road' would forever change the way he understood and utilized music. Based in San Francisco since 1994 Dov has been instrumental in the growth of dance culture in the Bay Area by producing multiple events, festivals, gatherings, importing and exporting music, working in music distribution, club manager / booker, working as a magazine website content developer, music reviewer, and serving as a label solicitor for major digital retailers in 1998 and an A & R rep and music buyer. Dov coordinated and booked the ‘conference / panel' side of the first Summer Music Conference in San Francisco. He assisted in the development of multiple underground labels in the past 10 years and finally formed his own label Muti Music in January 2002 and build and managed music and media label, Cyberset since 2004.

Dov first production on vinyl surfaced in 2002 and has since had multiple remixes and more recently solo outings, he produces as ‘Dov', ‘Big Dub Project' and has a collaborative production project with an-ten-nae as “D'n A” and also one with ‘Walter' as “6C”.

Dov began performing electronic music in 1996 as both a DJ and doing ‘chill' sets with his Groovebox 303 and has become known as an urban futurist pushing multiple genres usually with bass heavy beats DJing around USA, in the EU and South Africa. He has headlined and featured alongside many luminaries of dance culture and has performed with: Freq Nasty, Andrew Weatherall, Keith Tenniswood, Phoenecia, Tipper, Tayo, Fine Cut Bodies, Atomic Hooligan, 10 Sui, Soto, Wee DJs, Volsoc, Bass Kittens, Kraddy, Adam Freeland, An-ten-nae, Lawgiverz, BLIM, Ed209, Chicks on Speed, Syrap Girls, Modeselektor, Otto Von Schirach, Freestylers, Krafty Kuts, Anthony Rother, Ferry Corsten, Boy George, Bassnectar, Single Cell Orchestra, Audiovoid and many more.

Related production and company projects that Dov has founded / worked on include: Fusion Festival and monthlies, Eyephunk, “ig-nite”, Radio-v, Digital Be-In, Muti Music, 1015 Folsom, Subalicious, Shattered, Beats without Borders, multiple ‘one-off' nights and Cyberset.

Jake Childs-(uni.form,OM, Freerange, Drop Music Click Pop, etc.

    Houston TX

Houston-based Uniform was established in 2002 by the label's founder Jake Childs once he released a house-inspired promotional mix CD by Sista Stroke [www. sistastroke. com], “Soulquarian”. The release fortified the label's efforts and realized a vision Childs had only entertained until then. Child's finally put his dedication, and hard earned finances, into uni.form.

Utilizing the label as a platform to help others in the Houston house scene and open up collaborations with other music producers, the label's prolific producer began working with more like-minded musicians, producers and djs. With a varied style, Uniform releases will be nothing but-it covers a musical spectrum. Following a color-coded motif for the label's releases. While Childs keeps pumping out tracks released on various other independent labels, he still finds time to consistently procreate and present unparalleled music under uni.form that doesn't fit your norm.

There are two things you should know about A>S>H>S: it's a philosophy that combines the latest in technology and instrumentation to create consuming rhythmic environments; and it's the real deal-not some gimmicky, genre-enslaved crowd chaser.

A>S>H>S sprang from two musicians experimenting with drum and bass over recorded loops and exploded into a scion of the urban underground rave party scene, throwing illegal parties with Spiral Tribe (infamous techno nomads in Europe) and building their own reputation out of a 12,000 square foot warehouse in the Houston area. Their now-legendary events there were deemed “a hotbed of alternative entertainment” by member of the local press.

“We're not hippies or college kids trying emulate the rave/party culture,” says Jason Williams, who in addition to being the group's drummer also handles aux percussion, serves as producer and develops visuals. “We've come from, have digested and are already leaving that behind.

Williams' bandmates are Scott Nichols on bass guitar; Zavier “Jay” Gonzales on congas and alt persussion; Christopher “Berserk” Karl, the group's turntablist who also contributes to visuals and design; Joseph Berryman on tenor saxophone, and Chad Hilger ..boards.

He says that A>S>H>S art is evolving to the “next level beyond emulating a rave with live instruments and laptops.” The five-year plan is to create “full-blown multimedia environments”-the first experiment will be in Houston and will incorporate live music with live lights, laser, visuals and dance.

David Cobb of allaboutjazz. com said A>S>H>S has a “penchant for letting the music speak through their instruments… they can weave elements of jazz with hints of funk, hip-hop and classic rock, but still maintain cohesiveness throughout. Pulling this off would be a challenge for most bands, yet A>S>H>S makes it seamless and nearly effortless.

A>S>H>S expects to leave its audiences spellbound. “We want them to be excited; to realize that they weren't aware that sounds and environments existed like that,” Gonzales said. “They're happy to hear something totally new and refreshing, and they're smiling because they've been grooving and jamming all night.

“A>S>H>S's music sounds like a downtown street, one where the rich and poor mingle, and gleaming glass buildings sit on top of filthy parking garages,” wrote Sara Cress of the Houston Chronicle. “It's jazz created in the underground, informed by hip-hop and any sound that has ever been produced with an electrical current.

The band is in the final stages of producing a new debut CD that will carry the essence of this sensory experiment to listeners worldwide. Considering A>S>H>S' talent for taking a space and expanding it-and the minds within-it's likely that it will be bringing its unique artistry to cities everywhere soon after.

An excellent way to wrap your mind around the A>S>H>S experience is to visit its website at www. ashs. us for news, information and music.
