I dont know about you guys, but when I heard Lewis Black was getting his own show on Comedy Central, I couldnt have been more excited. Now that I've endured a few episodes of this travesty, I'm truly heartbroken. The premise of the show was a gem; there was so much potential. A genuine debate show with some witty quips and subtle criticisms of modern social culture. But the show is too scripted. The debate theme is entirely lost, with the show instead relying on any scrap of material available for a quick laugh. Rather than a scathing review of... well, anything (as they advertise it), it seems to be a springboard for hack comedians whose careers have died, allowing them to get back on TV by simply reading lines. My last gripe... Lewis Black sold out! What happened to the cranky old bastard whose stand-up routines I once enjoyed over and over again?! Instead, what we see on The Root of All Evil is Black shamelessly whoring himself out to Comedy Central, appearing only as a name and a face, with no substance behind him to even warrant being called Lewis Black. It's a fucking shame. Thoughts?
I could type a lot about this, but i wont cause it isnt interesting, I have to say, I agree with all ofyou. I gave it two chances, and my subconscious had me change the channel fairly quickly.
Lewis Black is one of my favorite comedians, but I really just have no interest whatsoever in that show.
yea..i was about to post a thread about this.. lewis black lost 90 percent of his audience, the drunkies and stoners.. fuck you lewis black..yea dane cook is now a better comedian than you that is how far you have sunk
wow im glad im not the only one that feels this way about him, i was hopeful for tonights episode still hasnt aired in my time zone south park hits the air waves in 5 mins here, but the comedian do suck i i figured this would be better then the sarah silverman program which ehh they both fuckin suck!
This show just seems like a crappy version of Crossballs. Go to youtube and search Crossballs and watch a few of them. The show got cancelled because one of the guests tried to stab one of the actors. I'm sure you guys might enjoy this episode about weed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zT--Fd3qy4
i still like lewis balck... but the beer vs. weed did ruin the show for me.. in just one line the whole show was ruined.. that commerical they kept playing "everyong thats high always think they're blowin your mind. your the one thats high" every time i heard that i wanted to fucking slap him... apparently he was high thinking his sketch was funny. fuck him.

Ya but they took the worst things you could say about weed, then used them out of context and made illogical claims While they took little things wrong with beer While beer was coined the root of all evil, the show def gave a harder time to weed. I was never a fan of lewis black, however i am surprised how bad he has sold out over the last few years, and this horrible excuse for entertainment makes me want to throw up every time i see a commercial.
i watched it last night and when he said "Hops is something you find in a basketball players shoes" i was like are you fuckin seriously lewis black?
