The fairy tale that the right tells is that Republicans are the guardians of freedom, its a lie, they've actually always been FOR taking freedoms away.

Todays Republican party is more of a threat to the dream of our Founding Father and Mothers then any Islamic nutcase with a bomb in his underwear.

The latest assualt to freedom by the Republicans comes from the John McCain sponsored Enemy Belligerent Interrogation Detention and Prosecution Act of 2010,
McCain and Lieberman's "Enemy Belligerent" Act Could Set U.S. on Path to Military Dictatorship | Civil Liberties | AlterNet

This anti-constitutional bill shreds the the pieces left of the Bill of Rights. It strips the 1st amendment, the 6th amendment, and, if it passes, would allow the government to detain indefinitely anyone with a dissenting political opinion, without charge or trial based only on “suspected activity”.

Of course the corporate media hasnt said a word about this, thats not a suprise.

McCain, Liberman, and the other GOP co-sponers want to ensure that what happened to Jose Padilla by the Bush admin. could be done to all Americans, but under the law.

Glenn Greenwald has written about this matter,
    Those authoritarian, torture-loving French - Glenn Greenwald - Salon.com

he calls The Enemy Belligerent Detention And Interrogation Act of 2010 “probably the single most extremist, tyrannical and dangerous bill introduced in the Senate in the last several decades.”

I dont know, maybe John McCain was born before the Magna Carta,
Magna Carta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“Naturally the common people don't want war. But after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship, or a Parliament, or a Communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and for exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.”
    - Hermann Goering, Hitler's Reich Marshall, at the Nuremberg Trials after World War II.

When will the war against our rights and freedoms in the name of a war on a tactic end?

  2. When people wake up and see through the left vs right illusion.

  3. Just curious... are you high? Typical Left Wing Nut Scare Tactics is what this is... Not to say that the Republicans are any better than Democrats, because REALLY they aren't. The Republicrats might as well be one giant party, because they all have the same big government values and shady morals. To say that the Dems don't support these bills as much as Repubs is kinda like saying Republicans don't want to be as rich as Democrats because it's "against their beliefs..." Their beliefs are that they are more worthy of power than the rest of us, because we have allowed them to take away our freedoms. Those who would sacrifice Liberty for Security deserve neither, and will lose both.

What we need in this country - as Ron Paul has said on many occasions - is a REAL Revolution... We need people to stand up for their rights, instead of just whining about how bad things are getting. Get 10 million people to march on the Capital... hell, 5 million would work... and you'll see change happen in the United States. Make the government fear the people again... or we're all proper fucked. In all honesty, this Healthcare Bill is the BEST thing that could have happened in the eyes of Congress... Now there will be more apathetic citizens who are ok with everything that's going on as long as they get their check every month... and their free health care. Eventually there will be MANY people collecting the benefit, and FEW people actually contributing to the system. But wait... that's what Liberals wanted in the first place... to sit around and let Conservatives do all the heavy lifting.

  4. First off, yes im high, i hope you are too.

Second, im not afraid to give hell and put the blame on spineless, corporate, neoliberal and conservative democrats. They are almost always part of the problem. But so far, there isnt any democrat supporting or co-sponering this particular bill. So yes, this is directed towards republicans.

And to your last point about conservatives doing the "heavy lifting". What a joke. The republicans and conservatives are unwilling to govern. They havent done anything for the American people, unless you consider a corporation a person, which we do in this country.

  5. You don't think Obama supports this bill?

  6. He probably does since hes a conservative neoliberal "Democrat".

  7. I wasn't referring to government conservatives and liberals in my last point, I was referring to the general population of conservatives and liberals, the former who are generally for hard work, supporting themselves, owning conservative homes, living within their means, and paying for their own insurance. The latter, they're more likely to pop out 15 kids while they sit on their asses and collect government and taxpayer money because they realized they make more money per month having more kids than they do working a regular 40 hour job, all while getting free healthcare, free food, and buying video games and liquor with the cash that they might have laying around...

Obviously, I'm being facetious... I'm referring to situations like you see in movies like Idiocracy, and I've given EXTREME examples, so please don't bash me for being an asshole, because I'm not actually stereotyping people. In any case, both the liberal and conservative sides have lazy fucks who have learned to work the system, instead of actually working IN the system.

  8. Actually, he's nothing close to conservative... Obama is a severe Socialist AND Statist Liberal, and it's silly to say that he's anything close to "middle of the road"...

  9. This is the first thread of yours which I have enjoyed reading because it isn't mindless Obama praise and it isn't mindless GOP hate.

It is an objective look at the motivations behind the current policies of our federal government.

    Kudos.

  10. Sad to say this shit will probably be passed along with Lindsey Graham's National id card.

National Healthcare + National ID card + this "Enemy Belligerent" act= Tyranny

This bipartisan attack on freedom seems to be gaining momentum against the will of the people

  11. Unprivileged Enemy Belligerent, defined as "an individual who: 1) has engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners; or 2) has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners."

Will this be used against drug dealers since they "support terrorism"?

    You bet your ass.

  12. yessir your right on this one.. I remember seeing this commercial a few years back

  13. Fuck bipartisanship, we need no partisanship.

  14. I didn't like you at first, because you contradicted one of my posts... but I think I was just misinterpreting what you said, or you misinterpreted what I said... something like that... Dude, yer cool. :)

  15. That's never worked in the past, no reason to think it will now.

  16. Which is probably why our first President told us to discourage and stay away from political partisanship.

  17. Why such the cynical view?

Of course the corporate pawns in our government arent going to do much for we the people, but us libertarians, socialist, greens, anarchist, etc., need to come together whenever democracy is at stake.

  18. I can appreciate that and I agree with you but what do you want us to do and what result will it have? Protest? Write our congressman? Vote out/vote in? That stuff has been done to death and history has proven that it has little or no affect. I don't think politicians give a damn what we think and will do whatever they and their corporate sponsors want to do. Is that cynical? You bet. You really can't fight city hall.

EDIT - You can fight city hall but it's getting less and less productive all the time.

  19. Protest, yes, sign petitions, whatever, start your own party, run for local office. Vote.

Yes i can be quite cynical at times too, but I think you underestimate grassroots democracy in action.
