  2. I remember watching her coronation on TV and at the movie theater. (They used to have the top stories in newsreels at theaters and drive-ins before TVs were in every home.) I thought she looked like a fairy tale princess!

During World War 2, she joined the women's Auxiliary Territory Services and drove army ambulances and learned to repair heavy trucks on the battlefield. There was some family opposition to her doing that, but she got her way and served her country honorably during a time of war.

  4. I use about one brain cell even thinking about the british royalty. They have zero effect on my life.

  5. she lived for 96 well pampered years in luxury beyond a non-royal's comprehension. it's said she alone was worth ~$28 BILLION. I reckon even that kind of wealth cant keep a person alive forever.

    meh :confused_2:

  6. On my Birthday, easy to remember. She looked like a girl I met in the military years ago when she was young. I still think about that girl often.

  7. Never worked a day in her life, bummed off the state, reared at least one pedophile son and was the symbolic head of the British military who during her rein were involved in numerous atrocities around the world.

    Ya…

  9. It must be hard to be perfect in every way. You're judging the Queen rather harshly for the circumstances of her birth, the acts of her grown children, and for perceived bad acts of the British military, things she had no control over. Can't you think of anything she's done you can criticize or praise?

  12. reading some of you poster's posts the longer i hang around GC i get the feeling that i am truly becoming a dinosaur. i don't even know what "the queen" accomplished for her country or her colonies. whatever, I'll be the white, American fucknut - i just dont get all the crocodile tears. it's a bizarre thing to watch, or in my case attempt to avoid, but every news outlet on the planet has forgotten about everything else going on in the world so we can lament the loss of yet one more dead human the world refers to as "the queen".

sorry for your loss people but let's move on. unless! someone can educate us all for why QE2's death is such a monumental loss? what did the world lose? :confused_2:

  13. Okay then. If you can't think of anything she did good or bad then I understand why you criticize her for being born who she was. There must be someone in the world who's envious of your advantages and how you don't have to hang out at the dump looking for your next meal. Living the life of luxury is a relative concept.

  19. Agreed Possum, she's done nothing except leech off the people as a figurehead for a empire than committed atrocities around the world in the name of 'expansion'. The news and the papers aren't showing the people on the streets who couldn't care less about her death. I don't celebrate it, but I don't mourn her either. She did nothing except perpetuate a bygone era of colonialism.
