"The Problem with the marijuana movement is that,. Its not much of a movement.

  1. There's too many stoners involved"
At least thats what Bill Mahers may have said.

I"m here to offer some groundwork for the legalization of cannabis. The groundwork deals rather, with how the idea of cannabis (the meme) can be popularized enough to become tolerated.

First you may need an understanding of memetics. Investigate here Meme Central - Memes, Memetics, and Mind Virus Resource
WiKi :Memetics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After you have gained an understanding of memetics

:smoking: (I would strongly suggest to copy and paste this text into word to make it easier on the reading)

You ask me to do the impossible. You want me to stand up for you? A stranger I'd love to meet later.

But okay, I will try to bridge the gap between fire and chaos.

And should this flame we burned be burned with purpose
This flame shall scour the lands clean, will leave us naked and obscene
At least that is the goal we have set ourselves, to expose this modern world for the obscenity and mediocre failed potential it has thus constituted. It is left to our minds to imagine a world there has yet to be seen.
How global understanding could develop is fantastic. Though pragmatically won't happen and dominant forces will silence or corrupt the original intent, unless certain understanding and certain change comes quickly to pass.

He asks me to comment on memetics. Here are my thoughts. Your thoughts are nothing but sophisticated simultaneously-activated processes that update practically instantly on a biochemical basis.
Simply recognizing its sensory information they create a program for that purpose, easily they are programmed. There are important motivators, adrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, as well as others and indigenous endorphins.
With these senses as our guides our ambitions have led us thus. Wars waged to satisfy the risky ambitions of one arrogant individual. We have overpopulated the planet; we are the species most successful macro cellular organisms (the defining factor being consciousness). We have heeded our ancestor's need for power and reproduction.

The people of Africa were certainly the first colonialists but it was their european descendants that were first to spread throughout the entire planet. Independent nations were later formed, nationalism as well, nationalism could only lead to war and imperialism. Belief of your nation being superior to all the rest is mandatory. If we believed ourselves to be equals, we would not need armies. Should we believe ourselves equals and still hold armies we would surely wish ourselves dead.
Naturally our nations are sort of parasitic life forms in themselves. Exploiting the beliefs of one people to exploit the jobs and resources of other underdeveloped nations.

These are the parameters of our so-called civilization. Jeez, when you put it like that it seems like there's no hope, like there's some fucking kind of crisis. Crisis maybe, and hope naturally, let me elaborate frankly.
Most of us are slaves of but a few and most of us don't even know why they should care, indeed they deny the fruits of their artificial happiness are sterile and mass produced.
And perhaps it is not my place to interfere with the status of their freedom but perhaps the one true thing to fight for is our will not theirs.

For these reasons I give you my opinions on memetics.

Memetics is possibly not the greatest of memes, the idea that our thoughts are not our own is something we have subconsciously adapted to resist. The egos are apt slave masters, to betray their creators for the purpose of invaders.
Simply for this reason, successful memes are ones that successfully destroy the credibility or the potential of certain contradictory memes. Thus, egos that are not open to new ideas are able to reproduce because they are resistant to new ideas, even if the new ideas clearly point in a direction of positive growth.
I fear memetics will be a concept lost to many, and any sudden interest will quickly falter only to be uncovered later when the use of such knowledge is too late for application.

In the hopes that I am wrong I will proceed. The first thing the memetics meme does when it is programmed into your brain, is that your brain must uninstall certain other memes such as “I love the things I love because that is who I am” at least it leaves the potential that certain memes for the things you love are not your own, that you have wasted a considerable amount of your life praising false idols. This can be truly treacherous ground for some people and they will probably stop reading here. For the others I will continue.
When the memetics meme is programmed, when this preceding sentence makes perfect logical sense, is when an opportunity to investigate yourself further is established. As bob Marley said “The herb reveals you to yourself”
The concept of memetics is certainly nothing incredibly alien to “stoners” it is the realization that most people think other people's thoughts.
Other people's thoughts usually go along the lines of “if you smoke pot” you will fail in college and in association life and disappoint your family. That you want to stay away from pot because it will damage your ability to function in life. And that's a scary thought, and of course we have a very powerful self preservation instinct and we'd much rather stay away from something taboo like that while drinking our wine. Stoners are scapegoats for failed societies, instead of seeing someone lose their brainwashing they see demons of punk youth corrupting kids.

These are incredibly powerful memes we are dealing with. The types of things that are at stake are not things people easily let go of, not unless a more powerful crisis emerges or by slow reconditioning. Success, failure, denial are vastly more powerful memes than memetics itself in the present context. Our only hopes are to slowly change our context or redirect powerful crisis where the prospects of legalization far outweigh their desires and beliefs of the self-righteousness.

This is truly dreadful ground, but I do not believe it will become impossible to change the mind of a few open minded until with further numbers the idea can could exponentially grow in size.
In short, for there to be successful legalization, first there must be an established marijuana economy. A small country or state able to produce a significant amount of income from cannabis growing with a significant less amount of crime. When states and other countries are seen thriving, those who don't profit from cannabis will either have to conform or reform the cannabis laws anew. The reformation of these laws would probably result in protest of the participants of the cannabis economy and such protest would likely give the military the power to occupy.
In short the success could be short.
For this reason memetics must become a worldwide meme, with memetics you can logically communicate the kinds of things we find to be meaningless when high.
Without memetics, or perhaps without cannabis we would find it more difficult to resist the everyday brainwashing from the media, on the TV and in our environment.

Why do so many people suffer from depression? That word, it feels like a weight to me, and I can see how it would burden many. It seems to me that they don't fit and will soon be replaced, that their lives are meaningless so they can soon be replaced or prescribed a medication so in time their minds can too be replaced.

Cannabis and memetics. These are powerful weapons against the powers that be. The ability to perceive things outside of our programming and the ability to speak of the programming in the context of the new science of memetics are concepts that in their perfect society wouldn't exist. In their perfect society we would no longer even be people, everything would be controlled by computers: population growth, food supply, disease, weather, wars and gold would all be managed without the regards to its citizens. Our lives nothing more than energy in the beast's machinery; we would be reduced into a means to our end.

But questioning the machinery through science in memetics or through a more intuitive approach of cannabis smoking enables us to fight back with considerable strength.

It is time for you to ascend; it is time to you to return to your rightful throne of your consciousness. Only by controlling our own consciousness can we guarantee freedom in the future. Only by thinking for ourselves can we hope to arrive at a harmonious understanding of our differences, parallel ambitions and shared goals.

The mind must come to be important above else, and then the exploration of the human intuition can begin. This will allow the mind to investigate for itself and take only memes which were diligently scrutinized, the memes which are not just popular but true enough. True enough is important; even we do not claim to know an absolute. This is further reason to think for yourself, begin working your destiny.
After you have questioned the above and have come to an agreement, we are yet filled with certain tasks.
For example: How can we attribute possible positive memes that could self-replicate competitively to cannabis?
One very powerful meme, but perhaps more popular where it is most oppressed, is called freedom. The way Love can be equated with omnipotent beings; cannabis must be associated with freedom. Bliss. This is one powerful meme for cannabis, but war, and the very loss of freedom might be necessary to spread it.

We must also appeal to justice, the cannabis prohibition must be viewed as unsuccessful, wasteful, propaganda that is largely responsible for the population of our prisons. But to begin doing that we must tackle weather cannabis smoking is morally objectionable or at the very least morally tolerated. Convincing close minded thinkers that our poison is their possible salvation is like trying to convince everyone the world is round at a time of a universally accepted flat world. They must question the very curvature of their earth to come to understand that freedom of the mind is non negotiable, mutually accepted freedom to pursue the thoughts that cultivate the soul. Men cultivate cannabis, but cannabis cultivates our soul. Here is a slightly appealing meme.

It may be difficult to apply this reference to the soul in the context of established religion that may suffer from the change brought by cannabis tolerance. However there is a significant population unaffiliated with any of the world's religions or their constraints, these people will welcome a spiritual journey without the religious dogma.

We can appeal to other lower instincts as well, though I hope in time this becomes unnecessary. A commercial where 2 hot women are eating the same food on two occasions, but in one occasion she is stoned, might make you think “Cannabis must make food taste much better” (as well as the lust for the woman.) You will eventually wish to try this superior food and at the same time reproduce the cannabis meme.

We could appeal to the meme of safety. We could point out how the vast majority of violent crimes are not performed when stoned or how that even driving we have a superior safety record to alcohol. Safety will appeal to a lot of mom's motherly instincts, if there is a safer alternative than the alcohol or other drugs that may have been more dangerous, cannabis may gain acceptance as a recreational drug.
Lastly we could make cannabis glamorous, the undeserved glamour given to cigarettes in the past must now be attributed to cannabis, but in an open more genuine sense. The kind of grace and popularity associated with such figures as Bob Marley or John Lennon, both free attitude thinkers, and popular in the present.
Of course the associations are better spread if certain figures are part of the individuals present culture. For this reason cannabis must gain some acceptance and then popularity in the popular entertainment media. A few hilarious comedies are a good start, but it must grow unto other genres as well. It is important to change the very context of the discussion if by words alone they will not reason. Debate on the legalization of cannabis at a time where the context implied legalization of a madness inducing drug that would put the lives and sanctity of young white women would have been impossible.
We have made some notable progress in this regard but the context must yet further change until a further dialog of cannabis is reached.

To change the present context we must dissolve the lies and propaganda created by the past context. When their propaganda influences minimal sway is when earnest discussion of the benefits of cannabis could be realized.

Many commercials are already established with the intents of discrediting cannabis use as nothing more than a drug that will make you lazy and isolated. A drug that will paralyze you and cause pain to other's around you. I don't know about you, but to me that better describes a more significant problem in our society: alcohol. It seems a lot of the old alcohol prohibition propaganda survived to reproduce in the cannabis context
The commercials we must discredit, in a humorous manner if I may propose. It has been my experience that comedians have made some of the most successful argument for cannabis simply by ridiculing the current propaganda.

Now that we are aware of the memes we will be competing with, and possible means to accelerate our own growth, we may have some hope in the long run. Memetics allows for injustices and oppression to be logically established, this means that at least in principle, memetics are capable for furthering the legalization of marijuana. Conversely marijuana further protects from the invasive programming of everyday living, allowing us to better understand memetics. I hope this synergy becomes a lasting one.

  2. Guys i know its a lot to read, but give it some time, I gave a lot of my time to write it and conceptualize it.

  3. can we get a summary?
