Living in a State without the freedom to grow my own let alone purchase seeds or clones to broaden my palate, I'm dedicating a female to act as a mother plant to make my indoor garden more efficient and thereby insure I remain self sufficient. Sacrificing the lower half at harvest time allowed enough greenery to reveg and assume the role of wellspring for offering clones for my future runs. As her cuttings mature they will in turn provide clones that I can hopefully be assured will be female as well.

Flanking her are a pair of the containers I've grown to utilize for stabilizing both seed based and clone based efforts - the nested system gives a ready made home for the successful sprouts that only requires a plop and drop for developing a stronger base for the first and second phase of my normal two month veg routine. The lighting for this is a Spiderfarmer SF1000 in an enclosure built from a heavy gauge shelving unit and as cuttings present themselves I've got two additional cabinets slightly larger as well as two sprouting stations roughly half this size that can handle as many as my heart desires.
A look at the typical configuration of my aggressive topping and training program gives a template for all my efforts which boosts the potential for keeping me free from spending my retirement income on clandestine self medication and entertainment.

8000 cups of coffee provides the opportunity to work in an outdoor effort to run alongside the Phoenix Project getting underway. These twenty containers were planted last night with a generous three seeds each straight to soil to see what the big ball of fire in the sky can pull down compared to my galaxy of indoor lighting.

The simplest solution - only drawback is the need to add water nearly every day to keep the stems fully submerged. Takes about two weeks to notice enough roots to successfully transition to soil based.

  6. A peek in on how the Phoenix Project is faring; a bit claustrophobic but manageable.

  7. Sharing the cabinet with the Baby Momma, my only indoor seed based effort at present.

  8. As budding is kicking in the yellowing of the older Sun leaves is becoming more pronounced so I'm finally going to have to address my poor nutrient management.

  9. Approaching a week outdoors, this pair were upgraded from 3 gal to these roughly 7 gal containers and haven't evidenced the least hint of stress.

The seed based pair in the coffee containers have been outside since they hit the soil and show a dramatically different structure with markedly increased node spacing despite the benefit of natural Sunlight.

Hoping to work in a Fall crop of radish, green beans, and squash; moving into bigger containers by the end of the week.

  11. Coming down to the wire with the first gen; better quality camera close up helps obfuscate the overall scruffiness by highlighting the crystal goodness.

  12. With water based cloning not panning out as well as I'd like I decided to give a pair a shot direct to soil (dipped in honey as a natural rooting accelerant).

  13. My latest cloning system; repurposed clear wide mouth jugs for doggie treats make a perfect terrarium for rooting cuts. These taken Friday will likely get nothing but a few gulps of fresh air and a couple of sips of water over the next two weeks. Whole process may become a set it and forget it operation with this innovation.

  14. Coincidently these two revegging stumps are actually the pair pictured back in Sept; rushed into flower and woefully shy of their full potential.
