Rory Macdonald was the start of the new breed of MMA fighters, he trained solely in MMA for years before branching out into other trades. Good for you bud, my post was about a MMA expert annihilating a world renowned BJJ practitioner. If you’ve never heard about Damien Maia but have trained in 3+ martial arts styles I doubt the credibility of your post.
From what I’ve learned from life is if you learn from the gods/Demi gods of your trade you’ll advance. Learn from those that are greater then yourself.
I'm thinking, if I'm an aging-but-active legend who still wants to fight, like Fedor, Vitor, Crocop, Rampage, Machida, Anderson, Wanderlei.... I'd take my talents to markets and organizations outside of the US, like Japan or Russia, TRT it up and add whatever other PEDs the organization is not testing for to my diet, and extend my physical prime by another 5+ years. A lot of these guys originated in PRIDE, where the juice was flowing freely. I'm surprised that more of them have not simply looked to evade USADA by fighting and juicing in foreign markets.
I know he meant PRIDE, I was trying to say what stops other fighters from using PEDs/EPO is actual pride.
Ehh... Some of them, perhaps. Maybe someone like a GSP, who is generally thought of as the honorable good guy, which imo he is. Many others are on record with PED use already, and like said, many originate from PRIDE which was known for juicing. I wouldn't think that crowd is being stopped by personal pride. If Vitor, for example, was ok with juicing when he wrecked Rockhold, why would he not be ok with juicing now that he's older and would benefit from it more?
That's not quite the same. Nick would claim this about anyone and everyone, which is why his opinion on this doesn't carry much weight.. My point is specifically that a lot of these old school guys are on record being on PED's or being in an organization that is on record for repeated PED use. Vitor- PED issues Wanderlei - PED issues Barnett - PED issues Machida - slight PED issues Anderson- PED issues PRIDE, major PEDs used everywhere Any of these guys, or someone like that, it only makes sense to take it to Japan or Russia, and PED it up in old age.
I don’t disagree, a lot of the old school fighters have been caught for PEDs that have come from old school promotions but not all, trying to say that not everyone is an unnatural savage.
Paulo Costa wrecked Uriah Hall. I've been saying this guy is the next big thing at 85 since he destroyed Johnny Hendrix a year or so ago. I am amazed that he can pass USADA. .... I still believe that a PED-free Jon Jones would beat all three, Stipe, DC, Brock - no problem.
Jon's kind of a big deal my friend. I make no excuses for his life choices, and the mistakes he has made. I consider his behavior well below of what a high class fighter should be. Having said that, he is possibly the most dominant athlete to ever compete at 205. PEDs or not.
That's pretty impressive for sure but the GOAT? really? Yeah man, JJ's list is more impressive imo. Shogun Rampage DCx2 Belfort Sonnen (in prime) Evans (in prime) Machida (in prime) Gustafsson .. I like GSP more as a person and fighter, but I think Jon is the current pinnacle in MMA. Maybe all time, and I like Fedor, as a person, far more than Jon.
