The US let them kill their pacific fleet (the US had the ability to stop the Japanese from attacking Pearl Harbor and chose not to) and it wasn't not the US's job to protect China; otherwise, they would've entered the war a lot earlier than they did. Was it necessary for the US to attack Japan with nuclear weapons? That seems to be the question at hand. You keep trying to deflect it. There are other options besides bombing them with nuclear weapons and ignoring them. Stop trying to build up a false dichotomy and explain exactly why attacking another country with nuclear weapons killing 150,000+ innocent civilians was the best possible course of action. It is fairly black and white from where I'm sitting. Attacking Japan with nuclear weapons was NOT the best course of action for the US and it wasn't morally/ethically justifiable.
So, because the Japanese came up with a number of expected casualities if the US were to invade the mainland it was neccessary to drop atomic bombs on innocent Japanese civilians anyway? Absolutely incredible.
well hindsite is always 20/20. top it with a lack of study (or most likely a military cover up of the info if one was even done) on the affects a nuke would have for generations to come and we have controversy today... I tend to not believe anything DC says is a reason for doing or have done anything...to many lies, to many coverups, and today we can see them actually change FACTS (speed of that interwebbers thingy huh) when reports/papers/studies do not agree with and enforce the desired outcome...to give credence to the evil DC wants to be, or has been, engaging in... IF and I do mean IF Truman made his decision, based on what we are told he knew, then he did the right thing...but I doubt we know the truth and I have to admit it wasn't so, due to the reasoning above. (yep, I believe even back then, BB was BSing us all into committing atrocities...)
I dont get whats with all this pew pewing on the decision to drop atomic bombs in Japan in WWII. War is neither fair or just to the people who endure it. Japan attacked us when we were off fighting the most atrocious villains in modern day history. Those bombs ended a war that was justified upon Japan who decided to attack us. Ernest Hemingway Its an unfortunate lesson learned, war is bad, dont do it.
They didn't attack "us" per se. They responded to our own acts of war against them by attacking our naval fleet. Also, HI wasn't a state until 1959. After that, Americans were conscripted into WWII. Don't even get me started on WWI and how we helped guarantee WWII due to our involvement and the Treaty of Versailles. Smells like bullshit to me...and we still nuked hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. It's not humane, it's not moral and we still haven't learned. We are the world's aggressor now, have been for a while...I wonder how history will look back on us, I think not well or kindly.
fuck history right in the shithole. i live here...now....and i don't look to fucking kindly on perpetual aggression to satisfy an ever increasing demand for money, resources, control, real estate...take your pick.
I completely agree with you. That's the problem though. War is fucking evil there are no rules, and as you can see, the world has apparantly come to grips with the way we handled WWII. We got the pass. We're a country of aggressive little bitches who cant even begin to empathize with the people we're killing.. and if you poke us we'll reign down the sky on your punk ass. : Edit also to put things into perspective; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties According to a casualty chart Japan lost over 2 million alone. What is that, 10% were from the atomic bomb?
In regards to the nukes and the aftermath, we should have done to those scientists what the CIA did to President Reagan during the Iran contra affair hearings. I don't know if you remember, I know Reagan didn't, but when he gave testimony about the arms deals with Iran and giving money to the Nicaraguan contras to fund their war and drug smuggling into the US, he kept answering repeatedly "I don't remember". Soon after the hearings he was diagnosed with alzheimer's. What a convenient coincidence.
I'd bet money that George H. W. Bush knew about it and participated in it. Maybe Reagan really didn't know, or didn't WANT to know? Who knows.
and lets not forget all the nukes we set off on our own soil...as 'test'...our overlords in DC contaminated much of our own country, and that radiation is still there...all in the name of national security. They even sprayed 'stuff' on the general population to test the affects on people..our own freaking citizens... what history will say about it 100 years from now is anyones guess, because those same overlords like to rewrite history books, and shove them down our children's throats, as the "gods honest truth" (check out recent events regarding puplic education systems, throughout the country electing to use, new, 'corrected', 'enhanced', revised, versions of history books, that show the 'state' being the good guy in all events, even when the state was guilty of war crimes...oh, say, like torturing people, altering reports to give credence to invading other countries ... fabrication of new and more dangerous boogeymen, one after the other ... once we figure out the last one was a lie, we get a new one...)
Did Obama's election kill the antiwar movement? Obamas just the same as bush if not worse. All his pre election promises that he abandoned show that either he is just a liar, or even worse that presidents are puppets that have no real control.
Why do you think terrorists want to kill us? Is it because were america and there jealous of our awesomeness? Hell no, its because our military/CIA/politician feel like they have to fuck around with every country. We always have to have our dicks in every womens vagina so to speak. If we did not meddle in other countries affairs we would not have the enemys that we do. You may think that the CIA and military are protecting you but they are not, they are only protecting and expanding Americas wealth by any means. You can thank obama for creating hundreds of terrorists.
Thats the truth right thur. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj2IpKqziW4]YouTube - American History X - Quote[/ame] You can sit there and blame religion all day but you'd be wrong. Its a hatred, as a result of our constant meddling. If you were a kid growing up in a militarized zone you would know no other life.. meddling 1. Interfere in or busy oneself unduly with something that is not one's concern. 2. Touch or handle (something) without permission: "don't meddle with my things".
Thank Obama for creating hundreds of terrorist? That's like saying thank Obama for creating hundreds of nuclear warheads. Cats been out the bag lurking in the back alleys for quite some time now. You dig? No? Here's a shovel: Iran Why do you think we're fucking around over there? You say oil. I say you're right. You don't like oil cause the deserts over there make crazy terrorists, but you won't trade your light bulbs for candles. It's a fucked up situation, but that's the world our oil companies has made for us.
obama continued bushes foreign policy and expanded into pakistan and libya therefore its his fault as well. its not just about oil, private contractors as well, Haliburton, Blackwater(XE), KBR. to name a few. theres probably more money in it for the military industrial complex and private contractors then oil.
These are the first wars where private contracted troops on the ground outnumbered our own troops. Contracted troops are usually 3x more cost per person as well..
