It's that time again.  My computer is acting up.
Browsers are opening on the wrong monitor.
The menu bar on Firefox is in the wrong place.
Thunderbird shares the opening on the wrong
    monitor problem.

Time to wipe my C: drive and do a reinstall.
Anyone else in the same boat.

  3. My last laptop computer has windows 7 and linux mint. never did anything but run the hell out of it. It still runs.

Just got a new Toshiba laptop, touchscreen. I like it a lot.

  4. i was going to reinstall windows to my old desktop. killer SLI vid card setup, SSD raid array, intel core 2 quad OCed to 4ghz.
it is old though. this would be reinstall number 6 on it. i would reinstall windows every 6 months or so. i just made a recovery disk set that has windows 7 freshly installed, all my programs and games too. saves a ton of time.
decided to put it to rest and go with a gaming laptop. I7 cpu, 16 gigs ram, 240gb ssd, dual 760 gpu's.
    definitely worth the money.
so yeah, in a way i guess, i just reinstalled windows 8)

I don't mind doing reformatting when SSD's are involved, just set the computer to stay awake / auto reboot and download. Come back in an hour and its all done. Feel sorry for people with normal hard drives...

Back to thread, I reformat every month or so... keep all my media in the cloud/external.

  6. I use ccleaner for cookies and registry and ghostery for tracking cookies and been running fine since i bought it like 3 years ago (windows 7)..having a ssd does help though so much faster Im glad I got one...getting full of old apps n shit though so bout due for a wipe

  7. got a similar issue...stupidly decided to hook up an old harddrive into my current comp....worked fine and was able to transfer some stuff, now im guessingsince i didnt take proper steps before installing, my comp wont access it and wont read any files....ugh haha.
