The military, drug tests, and me

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Sheepstealer, Oct 26, 2010.

  1. Ok so I understand that this topic may have been talked about before. I just wanted to throw my hat into the ring in the off chance anyone might be able to help me out.

I'm pretty sure I want to apply to the Coast Guard. In fact, I've already started the process. I was curious as to when the drug test happens and what I can expect. I've actually never had to be drug tested at all in my life (I'm a younger guy, only 23). I've held several jobs but for some reason none have required a drug test.

That being said, I also don't smoke too much either. I smoke pot like I drink - I keep it mostly at night when I'm trying to relax. I'd say I smoke at best two, maybe three nights a week.

What I'm asking is how long does it take THC to get out of your system? I exercise fairly regularly, eat well (for the most part) and usually stay away from other drugs. Any tips?

I know my medical review is coming up in a few weeks so I'm just trying to get an idea for when I should flush my system. I'm pretty sure they administer a urine test.

    Thanks for any advice.

  2. It can take up to 30 days for it to be completely out of your system, but it sounds like your a realatively light user and if your active I would bet you would be cool closer to 2 weeks.

Just put in your time with some extra cardio over that time and pound the water that should help you detox faster.

Why not buy an at home test before hand so you don't have to worry? Could you fake it?

  3. Quit.

The soldiers I know--blazers all--say that the uniformed services are pretty serious about drug use, with drug testing being thorough, random, and unannounced. It's not necessarily because they're anti-weed--most couldn't care less--but because they're pro-discipline, and herb is the sort of violation that brings swift, strong action.

Once you're in, let your buddies fill you in on the whens, the hows, and the risks. Until then, don't go in cloudy, makes the wrong first impression.
