You must've missed those insurrectionist chants of "hang mike pence." (I can supply video upon request) Why would the capitol rioters be chanting that? Because pence had refused to obey trump's request to not certify the election results. Why would trump want the election results to remain un-certified? So that he could create chaos that might've allowed him to stay in office. If pence or state legislatures had refused to certify, he could them point to un-certified elections as the reason for staying in office.

My main concern isn't trump. It's the seeds of anti-democracy, violence, and lying that he has instilled in people like you who should know better. The most undemocratic action possible is to refuse election results. A person doesn't have to be a hater to be upset with attacks on democracy. The bipartisan Jan 6 committee is looking into this, and their bipartisan results will be interesting.

Not a Trump fan --in fact quite the opposite-- but he didn't instill anything in anyone or anything of the sort. He couldn't sell water to a fish. All he's ever done is reflect the state of society back onto itself. He wouldn't have become president if that wasn't the case. There's always going to be a large segment of the population, regardless of political bent, who will be chomping at the bit to reject whatever makes society work if they believe they are part of the "in group" that benefits from political power. Trump was great at making people think that. But it never works out that way. You're either in The Big Club or you're not. 99% of his supporters aren't.
You are over-thinking this. It is true that there is a dark element in society, but it has been kept at bay by peer pressure. Trump eliminated that peer pressure. A simple question illuminates this completely, "would republicans be acting the same way if Mitt Romney had been president instead of Trump?" Trump might not be able to sell water to a fish, but he can sell racism and hatred to an old white man. We partly agree, because the feelings trump evoked were already there, but kept under wraps until he unwrapped.

Trump has a serious ego/narcissistic problem, and runs his mouth way too much. The race problem is a fabrication of msm. Is it trumps fault white supremacist groups follow him? Most of those groups I would guess are anti establishment. Because he wanted to drain the swamp, I am sure those groups found some commonality. Biden has extremist groups that follow him as well.
