The Lost Art of "Logging Off"

Discussion in 'General' started by Rasta_Man, Aug 26, 2006.

  1. Okay, i'm fed up.

Right now on my MSN, there are 36 people 'online'

Of there 36 people, 31 are "away".

Of the remaining 5, there are only 3 of which that are actually at their computers, chatting.

learn how to fucking sign off, for christ sakes!

Is it too much work to type in a half-dozen digit password everytime you wish to talk to people?

    Add your 2 cents.

  2. idk when i feel like getting off the computer i just get up and leave and it tells people im idle, i used to put away messages and stuff up but who cares, if i need 2 be reached i got my cell phone

  3. meh, i get a lot of people away, i don't mind, ya got something urgent to tell em ya can get through, but not if they're logged off. But i don't sign off either, only time i do is when i restart, which is rare as well, i'll go like 8 days on aim before i restart or get disconnected

  4. This is the 'excess' mentality in action right there.

  5. i never sign on, unless i've got a meeting or something. never let it idle, never leave the computer on alone, the modem isnt connected w/o me present. i use anon proxies and encrypted browser history....yeah...i feel were you are coming from rasta.

  6. i feel ya bro.. i got about 230 or so people on my BL and about 30-35 that stay on constantly.. gets me pissed off.. so i juss start deletin all them muthafuckas unless they IM me on the regular

  7. I have 16 people away right now on MSN.

However I can't hate because I do it a lot too. It's just easier and if someone needs to say something to me, they can.

  8. ... No need to sign off, thats what away mode is for. Some people still like to get messages while they are out.

  9. but whats the point if they aint responding back??

  10. what happened to the whole inactive member thing?

  11. Seems to me that you've done this on more then one occasion. I dont see anything wrong with it, I check my msn like 57 times a day, so signing in and out all the time would jujst be a hassle.

    :hello:eric:hello:

  12. I hate that too. They always take time to type up a new away message "at the movies with some friends" or whatever. Nobody cares, just sign off.

  13. I agree Rasta Man, why not log out. Since we no longer run Windows I don't use messenger anymore, I am starting to learn how to run Linux.

  14. Any good?

Linux has always had my attention.

Windows sucks royal monkey butt, and Mac OS won't run the majority of the games/programs i use (though, i am in love with the interface).

    In linux worth it?

  15. It's a pain in some ways because I don't know much about Linux and find myself allways trying to figure things out. Many images and videos I just don't bother with because I have to go into different programs, same goes with messenger, I have to use Kopete. It's very secure and stable, Brian talked me into to it.

Friends don't let friends use windows.LOL

  16. I dont log off.

    I write a away message.

    I got AIM.

Only like 30 people know it, Close people.

I write what im gettin into, Where ill be at, And how to get ahold of me.

Jus my computer resets like every 4-5 hours so after that im logged off.

  17. I only log on when I want to talk to people...and if I'm away, it means I'm screening.

  18. PM your address if you would like a set of Mandrake 2005 club version cd's(6).

  19. Yeah and the new Windows OS is going to require 2gig of ram and a dual channel CPU just to run it.

Haha, fuck, i bought a new computer a couple months ago and i'm already out of date!

  20. if i leave an away message i usually just say "Brb" and never come back. Broadband makes me lazy to sign off.
