The growing power of the g8led 900 by dorm grow!

  1. Hey guys and gals!
Ok this is going to be a awesome test run with one of the nicest led panels on the market!
As some of you know that have been helping me i am new to indoor growing and i have decided to go with leds. Im becoming obsessed with leds they are awesome! The technology is fun to learn and play with.
So i have been learning as i go from all of the great growers on gc as well as from experience.
I have a large grow room that i use but i do everything in tents. That is a little background on me.

Ok now for my goals and what i am trying to achieve. So ive already invested a bunch of money into equipment. I have several tents, ventilation fans, pots, soil and all kinds of goodies. I currently only have one tent up and running but im about to set up the next one. I also just got a personal loan that i plan to use to buy high end leds with. I want to grow in my grow room for a little over a year and get some experience under my belt then i want to explore growing canibis commercially but that is a long ways off :).
So my idea was to explore the high end led sceen, check out the equipment and technology and find something i like and run with it.
The idea of this grow journal is to test and show the power of dorm grows hi end led panels the g8.

After speaking back and forth with Erik from dorm grow they decided to let me try out one of there g8 900 leds! Erik has been top notch with customer service and has went out of his way to help me! There was no pressure and no hard time trying to figure out a way to test a light before i make a huge investment. So far dorm grow has been a amazing company to work with and im very impressed!

Ok so here are the rules...

    1. This grow journal is to show the grow power of dorm grows g8 900 led panel technology so please lets keep questions and talk focused on dorm grow and the g8 led. No other brands need to be discussed here. This isnt and wont turn into a pissing match of fanboys arguing about what leds are better! Please keep it respectful and lets let the g8 900 speak for itself.

    2. I am a noob to indoor growing. I am very active in the community and i learn fast and pay attention but understand that i am learning and if your not here to help or watch move on. I will ask questions that have already been asked and i will make mistakes. I work full time in a professional job, have a family and a 3 year old son so i am very busy and sometimes i need a answer fast without having to search Google for a hr.

    3. If you have any thoughts or ideas please post them and i am open to trying them out and to experimenting with this grow to showcase what this light can really do.

Ok now that is done so heres the best part. So as most of you know there are a ton of pros who test and demonstrate lights on gc and there grow journals are amazing i and alot of you guys learn a ton from these guys and they are a huge part of what makes this community great. One thing that i had trouble with when trying to figure out what led to go with was that most of the people who tested lights were just to dam good at growing canibis lol and i felt like they could grow amazing plants no matter what leds they used because there grows are perfect so i couldn't really make a choice because i couldnt see the difference in quality due to the fact that these growers are just so good. Well my idea with this journal is that you guys will get to see how this led stands up with a new grower that is intelligent but uneducated so all of the mistakes that other new guys may make in there journey will probably be seen here and we will see how the grow works with a new guy behind the wheel. What might be hard to overcome using lower end technology may be a breeze with a better light... in the end i hope to have learned a ton and also i hope that this great community can make there own decisions on this great product.

I am not being payed to do this and i will be honest with my review and opinions through the hole grow. If this light rocks im going to let you guys know. If there is something i dont like i will point it out. I feel that honest reviews of these products are crucial to the advancement of the technology and i will never try to impede progress.

My light was shipped today and should be here sometime soon. I will post all of the info on the light as well as pics. I also will be doing youtube videos showcasing the grow along the way.

The light im getting is a refurbished g8 900 full spectrum veg/bloom led. When i get close to flower i will also have the all red 90w bloom booster ufo led. My plan is to put this light into a 4x4 tent solo and then add the bloom booster befor flower. I will test lumens and power draw and any other reasonable test you guys want me to do let me know and i will do them. The info i have so far on this led is it covers a 6x4 area so the 4x4 should be a easy feat. Also the actual power draw should be 540w from wall i will test this to show. This light is supposed to be able to replace up to 1400w of hid lighting. This is the bigboy led from dorm grow and im excited to give it a run.

Alright thats it for now.. lets have some fun with this guys.. lets put this light through the gauntlet and watch how beastly it is! This light is a very nice led so if your on the fence about leds just pull up a seat and watch this badboy grow!

  8. Ok guy wow this light is amazing! I will post pics in a lil bit of the girls but in one night they have just come to life. I gotta go get some grow glasses today because even not looking at the light im going blind lol. Temps peaked at 86 last night but seem to be sticking at 82 average. I just cant believe how bright this light is! The coller is a deep purple its kinda hard to see any issues under and its so intense.

The g8led 900 puts out 540w from the wall but is equivalent to 1400w hid and so far im a believer guys this thing is mean. It covers a 6x4 area core but im running it in my 4x4 and it is just perfect with only that 540w draw. Cant wait till the 90w bloom booster comes
