The Great Debate: Where's the THC?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by Caffeination, Aug 28, 2012.

  1. Pipe v. Bong v. Joint
This is probably one of the most argued topics in all of stonerdom, but through reading the ramblings of many a high folk whom fancy themselves as scientists, I've come up with a question. Where is the THC going in the different methods that causes one to be superior to the next?

Joints, sure you lose smoke to the air, but when you do inhale you're shooting yourself in the lungs with a nice refreshing blast of anti-fucks.

Bongs are for gluttons, and lets face it, we're all little canni-piggies around here and just love watching that smoke fill the chamber and then fill our bodies with hugs and kittens and rainbows and stuff.

Pipes are for our inner Hitlers... wait... no fuck it... we all love to really have that perfect control over our little friends that hold our precious gift.

They each have pros and cons and each has been extensively argued to get you higher, so let me try to pose this question as specifically as possible. Disregarding the amount of herb it takes for each method, upon inhaling the smoke, why would one method be more efficient at transferring the THC than another?

    tl;dr- Read the underlined text.

Vapes were left out on purpose. They're all sciency and legit THC injectors.
Sorry for rambling, 7/10 on the Blaze-O-Meter.

  2. ok lets see

joints give the least THC for given amount of weed, as the smoke escapes when you are not inhaling.

pipes and bongs give similar amounts of THC for given amount of weed - you lose some to the glass on the inside of the pipe, as well as to water in the bong. more chambers/more water = more THC lost.

if you want to get highest on given amount of weed, you either vape or smoke with a soldering iron, preferably from a bong. soldering iron vapes the weed more than it combusts it due to lower temp meaning more THC.

  3. That soldering iron thing sounds legit, is there a thread on how to?

  4. Oi, I said disregarding the amount of herb.
I've smoked with a soldering iron... unfortunately it wasn't clean.

  5. i know caff, i disregarded the amount of herb. "given amount of weed" means the same amount of weed for each situation.

you don't smoke with the metal tip btw, you need one with a ceramic heating element (hakko.com has cheap ones that are perfect). the temp is something like 600-700 degrees fahrenheit while a bic is almost 2000 degrees. higher temp = combustion = wasting of THC.

  6. what a helpful and relevant post

  7. Vaporizer

    (I know)

  8. Fuck all that shit mang what you gotta do is slam it straight into ya veins

  9. If i were to smoke the same amount of weed out of each of these devices in the exact same amount of time from the exact same level of tolerance in the exact same mindset then id be more high off the bong and the pipe, probably moreso the bong. To many variables such as time since you last smoked, how you are feeling etc..

  10. People, you don't need to bust out a soldering iron for efficiency, you need only to learn proper use of a lighter. I recommend doing this with a pipe (most control as one said) but it can be done with a bong.

The trick is: let the flame get close to the herb but never touch. This can be accomplished by holding the pipe sideways and holding it near the tip (hottest part) of the flame. Once you have cherry effect remove the flame. This also helps avoiding inhalation of lighter fumes.

This is still probably not as efficient as a ceramic soldering iron but at least you don't look like a damned fiend =p.

  11. Really another one of these threads? Like its been said a million times bongs get more smoke in your lungs faster, with a minuscule amount of loss of thc in the water. Pipes are just like the efficiency of joints with out the burning cherry. Joint may be fun and great for groups but they waste weed by having a constantly burning cherry. If you took the same amount of weed in a pipe and a joint, the pipe would give you a few extra hits more then the joint based on the burning cherry, no matter how good you roll.

Yes. Dont torch the bowl and youre golden

  13. I heard shooting up is the most efficient way, but seriously, i think out of those three, bong is the most efficient because it filters out tar which gets in the way of thc getting absorbed into your lungs.
