The Fun and Fruits of Growing: My Story

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by buzz1520, Oct 25, 2012.

  1. This is a story of my journey. I would like all to feel like participating and have fun. I will post pics and get into how I got started and the time I took to research out everything to increase my odds of success. I never know that growing could be so interesting as well as fun and rewarding. There are many learning curves and for those that need great info you can visit any of the threads that SG1 post. so here it goes my first thread. hope it goes well. btw, i take criticism well as long as it is constructive so please feel free to have some input.

  2. Let me go over my equipment and room situation. I have a closet 4' x 7' with 8' ceilings. installed are the normal air scrubbers ac/dehumidifier fans and what i consider to be very beneficial: Mylar. this is one of those tid bits of info I learned from SG. this stuff WORKS. for light i have:
    2 each 4 bulb 90 watt t-5 set
2 each 600 watt (1200 ttl watts) MH for veg HPS for flower (switch over at 12/12)
    CO2 set up

I have my room waterproofed and sealed so I can flood a mist of spry with no worry.

Currents strains growing are Jack Herer and Blackwater Kush. Beans came from Ontario Seed Bank. I visited this place myself and felt like I got what I paid for. very pleased with them.

I am on day 65 from seed at this point but i will get into that later.

I will try to get better as I learn to manage a thread so if you have suggestions on how to make it better let me know.

pics I took yesterday. I will dig out the room pics so you can have an idea of what I have and how my room works.

  4. :wave:First. :yay::metal:

  5. i will post pics tonight of my room and journeys thru my first grow and the problems i encountered and what i learned.

  6. ok. so one thing i did not tell you was this time around i went all organics / soil nutes everything. put in great quality water filters and the whole nine. for soil i went with fox farm which i thought was very easy to work with and had everything in it that a novice would need. for nutrients i chose the biobizz line and this time i stuck to the feed chart recommended.

  7. the only thing different is the mylar that was installed as best i could in the middle of a grow without tearing out the room again. please believe me that if you go to SG1's threads and search out mylar and study how he curved all the angles it will be worth it. when i am finished with this set i am going to redo the room again with mylar and do it right. pics of my room

  8. limited head room made me use the 600 hoods to assemble a lift for the cfl's while sprouting

  9. this set has gone very well and possible harvest in a few weeks. my first grow had all kind of issues that only a first timer would get into. all self inflicted. i did manage to get out some really nice nugs that burned great but it could have been a lot better. the best advice that i can give you is that if you are the type that stays on top of your grow then don't panic when sexing and make knee jerk reactions. this can cost you a lot of harvest. my biggest screw up was the soil. it was a miracle grow with time released fertilizer. this is impossible to control and ph is all over the map. any way if you are interested in photos of sex, hermies or just plain nice buds let me know and i will put some up. if you are having problems i would like to help and if i can't answer your question i am sure i can point you in the right direction. thanks for looking in. have fun. :)

Your plants look nice, folks will like to look at them.
If you want good activity, you gotta get busy, draw them in.

Make sure you keep cuts of that blackwater.
    Could be a breeder:rolleyes:
I'll be watching, not always posting.

  13. hello sports fans. today was cleaning day. i generally like to clean the room real good once a week as long as the girls are able to be moved out. good thing is that this allowed me to get some pics of my room and the single Jack Herer. i have had to bend this one a couple of times already and she keeps turning up toward the sky. funny girl that jackie :)

  18. thx. should finish up in about 4-5 wks. hopefully everything keeps cruisin like it has been. i appreciate the visit to the thread.

  19. thanks. i have always wanted to have a room like this. there are lots of little things i want to tweak but all in all im proud of it for the first one. next one is going to be SG APPROVED :>). i do have a lot of fun with this and find it very intriguing. sometimes though just like now, mother nature can make things soooo slooow. i want to burn some of the jack so bad. patience is a virtue they say. plus i read on SG's thread that the longer you let flower the better the smell and taste. i do agree that those two facets are thing i enjoy the most. thanks for tuning in and dont be a stranger

  20. ok so i have this issue that i am sure is so simple its stupid but i have to ask because i would like to have different opinions. i am having a head room issue with the jack herer. i am clueless as to what sun bleaching is. i have tied, turned, bent (accidently found out that crimping the branch helped but still freaked me out) and this girl keeps turning and going to the sky. it doesn't take but a couple of hours and she is right back up. funniest damn thing i have ever seen. i wonder if the twin 600 hps is going to effect the colas being that close. please chime in and let me know.
