The Forbiden Fruit

  1. Im not christian so i dont know, but in the story of adam and eve god created a paradise and let them live there, only telling them not to eat the forbidden fruit. more or less what i have always gotten out of the story is that it is human nature to sample that fruit and im pretty sure that fruit is bud, or sex

  2. eve was the one who gave in to the serpants (satan) persuasion. so, you know what i learned...women are resonsible for all sin.

    rock the penis.

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  3. yeah right, the story of adam and eve is so stupid in my opinion. what kind of all knowing God creates a curious being only to tell them not to try something. obviously, if this God exists, is that we were destined to fuck ourselves over.

the forbidden fruit can be anything you make it really, after all it's most likely a metaphor, just like every other thing in the bible. it's so open to interpretation that it can be interpreted in any way you want it to, so really it's all up to you for what you to think.

and if it really was eve who picked that "apple" and fed it to adam, then she's the coolest girl i know. she saved us from eternal boredom.

  4. The story of Adam and Eve is the most sexist peice-o-shit i have ever read(no disrespect to christians on here though).

  5. "you want that apple. you know you do." -God

  6. i don't think it's bud or sex. because humans ate it, we are different from other animals because of...self-consciousness/awareness.

  7. the fruit was the knowledge of good/evil. yeah, get that knowledge and your life will be full of woe and suffering and shit like that. very true. sticking your mind into dichotomy, sure to be full of frustration and judgement, leading to fear, anger, hatred, suffering, etc etc etc. though the lesson from the story i'm sure can be far too easily interpreted as "stay stupid and ignorant".... which it most definately not about, quite far from it in an extreme.

but please, do dispute my interpretation. its not something i've spent alot of time on.

  8. Seems to me that the story (and remember, it's a story) is saying...

If you want a blissfully innocent life, free from turmoil and pain (but also from self-realization and Nirvana) stay in garden, be like children, and all will be well. Not truly rewarding, but enjoyable, and simple.

But, if you eat from that tree (more like mushrooms) you will open the floodgates of knowledge, a road filled with pain and anguish, suffering and self-doubt, etc. It's a one-way ticket, so take it or leave it. But there it is, anyway.

In a truer sense, the whole garden of eden story seems to me to be an alucidation of the point in earth's evolution, where all the trials and effort eventually succeeds in creating a lifeform fit to carry a soul, to get on with the work of self-realization. The point where the ape becomes the man, and it is good.

  9. Isn't it obvious it's telling us to stone women for eating apples? I think that's painfully clear. Grab your bibles and favorite judging stones!

  10. perhaps disobeying god, eating the fruit, is what seperates humans from animals, making decisions for ourselves

  11. I think the entire Old Testament is bullshit.

    New Testament FTW!!

  12. I dont know if you're joking or not. I don't know if you understand the irony...

    But it's still pretty funny.

  13. oh how could i have been so blind! oh praise the lord! let he who is without sin throw the first stone.... and get al those who say jahov~ erm... the lords name. raise your stones my brothers and sisters and start throwing them wildy at everyone! oh thankyou pete for showing us the light. the light being that we should throw stones, yes.

    OW!

"an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" - i think it was gandi who said that.

anyways, leaving all this religious stuff aside, i'm just gonna veer wildly off topic on purpose with this...

    howd ya like them apples.

    as they say.

  14. What? All I said was jahova!

  15. Haha yes I am a man of irony.

  16. The story of Adam and Eve is rubbish. Clearly the literary work of a human and not a divine being. It's sexist and downright ridiculous. If the fruit indeed was a fruit, then what would have been so wrong with eating it? Even if the fruit were sex, what would have been so wrong with it? There's nothing wrong with sex if it's for the right reasons. Why would it have been so demonized? And it doesn't seem like any move God made in that story was very well thought out. I've always been told that God made humans in his image 'without sin'. So, he makes a perfect being that turns around and gives into temptation and deliberately does what he told them not to. What did he do wrong? Seems to me like he messed something up, because I would think that a perfect God could create a perfect human with free will that still doesn't screw up like that. Seems like he went wrong somewhere with Satan, too. Why are all of his creations turning all screwy, and why hasn't he ever been able to put a stop to Satan's bullshit?

  17. Bump

Because I just thought of this.
Just another possible interpretation of the topic.
The Mind. No other animal really developed their mind like humans, and the use of it has done alot to destroy our planet. I love stoned thoughts.

  18. yeah, i liked how i put it better tho. :D;):p
