  1. I got the FBI virus last week. It froze my computer and told me to send them $100 to fix it. I knew this was a scam but was appalled to find Best Buy wanted to charged me $200 to fix it. I dont know anything about computers but I researched it on google and in very short order was able to get it off my computer for free. I would have been happy to pay Best Buy like $25 to $40 to have them fix it but $200?!?! If anyone need advise on how to get it off I would be happy to tell you a free easy way.

  2. Get a restore disc.

I got online in safe mode and ran Spybot. It cleaned it up. I don't know what a restore disc is? How much do they cost?

  4. You're better off not giving it to best buy/geek squad. All they would have done is reinstall windows and then charge you.

  5. Yea , they have no concept of supporting the community. When I told the geek I wasnt willing to pay $200 he could have said just boot computer on safe mode and download one of the free mal ware programs. Then I wouldnt have felt trapped to spend $$ and I would have thought 'this company cares about its customers, I want to shop here again.'. But no, Im going to avoid shopping there ever again.

  6. ^ Like's like saying you want Apple to jailbreak phones and go against there warranty.. I mean sure you could take a risk doing it the bootleg way, but is it as effective? No, so that's why. Not to mention they are providing a service of doing it for you.

    People sheesh.

  7. You don't go to Best Buy often, do you?

  8. as an experienced IT don't ever go to geeksquad or best buy to fix your computer they charge you a shit load of money to reinstall windows not actually fix it

  9. Restart the computer in safe mode with networking. Do a system restore to a few days back. Boom.

  10. Just open c:/windows and delete system 32.

  11. I'll do it for 150.

  12. Yes. Do this. Please.

  13. Eh?

If you took it took a proper repair shop they would have done the exact same thing he did. Sheesh.

  14. Hey man I've removed a lot of these at work, we charge £25 ill talk you through It if you haven't sorted it :)
