The fact that corporations pay less than 5% while I pay more than triple that is ridiculous

you have no idea what the consequences would have been if Trump lost a million that his dad loaned him.
you are speculating when you say there would be no consequences. I'm not biased about it because i got a family loan.. I'm biased about it because I have ran many businesses both successful and unsuccessful. I've gotten loans from banks as well. And there is no guarantee for success without having some brains, and hard work and pickling a good crew.
Again, he could have easily failed.. the odds of a business failing within the first year or two are staggering.
GW Bush was handed a successful oil company.. he didn't work, he didn't care and he failed.

Most of the folks like Elizabeth Warren and other career politicians who complain about this, have never run a business.

Getting a million regardless of where from, working hard and turning it into billions is self made.
Getting the loan from daddy would if anything given him less incentive to make it work, since as you say there were no real consequences if he had failed.

  2. We are off topic, but he did fail a few times and daddy bailed him out, again, and again.

  3. by the way.. i don't support Trump, would never vote for him based on a lot of his unconstitutional spending policies.
Just defending the fact that he is indeed a self made business man.

  4. doesn't matter.. he eventually made it work.
I've gotten multiple loans for the same business countless times. It takes a long time to turn a profit. Sometimes 5+ years of running at a loss.

  5. Based on his business reputation, would you do contract work for him? Without a front on the money.

  6. Even if you are life long pals with the general contractor, subs should always get a deposit, usually 10% to 15%, to cover the cost of supplies.

Trump has far more successes than he's had failures. His company has no problem filling sub contract work to this day, so I'm failing to see the point you're trying to make.

  7. Go read about his many lawsuits, it seems to be fairly risky not getting paid up front.

  8. And neither do you.. But if you had to guess would your family be more compassionate or a bank? Perhaps even forgiving dept of you made mistakes. You are speculating just as much as me.

  9. how am I speculating when I said i don't know what the consequences would be?

    where is the speculation?

  10. would trump not be the same billionaire if he got that money from a bank? Isn't it the same million?
again you'd think that he would only work harder if the money were from a bank and not from daddy. I know i definitely would.
the loan i got from family was a signed contract with an interest and repayment schedule. I also had to provide a detailed business plan.
The consequence of possibly alienating a family member is far worse than stiffing a bank, at least in my world.

  11. Come on Green, do you know how the 3500 lawsuits are broken down? Surely you don't believe HRC's claim that he stiffed 3500 "ordinary Americans? Of the 3500 lawsuits, only 60 (yes sixty) have been lawsuits from contractors that sued for payment.

Of the thousands of subs he's employed over the last 30 years that number is quite small.

  12. Where do you say you don't know? I think I missed it.

  13. Yet, are they not mostly from the same, small, time period? So only 60 got stiffed and off them it lead to some closing business. He is not the most honest man out there, by far.

    Edited to add:
Trump’s companies have also been cited for 24 violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act since 2005 for failing to pay overtime or minimum wage, according toU.S. Department of Labor data.

In addition to the lawsuits, the review found more than 200 mechanic’s liens — filed by contractors and employees against Trump, his companies or his properties claiming they were owed money for their work — since the 1980s. The liens range from a $75,000 claim by a Plainview, N.Y., air conditioning and heating company to a $1 million claim from the president of a New York City real estate banking firm. On just one project, Trump’s Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City, records released by theNew Jersey Casino Control Commission in 1990 show that at least 253 subcontractors weren’t paid in full or on time, including workers who installed walls, chandeliers and plumbing.

Just last month, Trump Miami Resort Management LLC settled with 48 servers at his Miami golf resort over failing to pay overtime for a special event. The settlements averaged about $800 for each worker and as high as $3,000 for one, according to court records.
And on and on, not all were lawsuits.

  15. See the edit above.

I am not saying she is a straight shooter, but there is a vast difference in how she lies and in who gets screwed. Trump is a con man and a fraud , as well as being a pathological liar.

  16. I got sued 4 times in 7 years in a MUCH smaller operation than Trump's.
One of them was my fault for sure.. poor old lady fell down in a pot hole :(

but people do like to sue people for everything these days.

Hard to defend Trump himself since i'm not a fan at all... but i do believe the media really blows shit out of proportion (on both sides)
my favorite is the "11 bankruptcies" talking point. The dude ran hundreds and hundreds of businesses. The rate of failure in business is like 70%.
Meanwhile the folks who literally helped to bankrupt our country and the social security system (R and D) are the ones making these comments.

  17. no argument here..
however Hillary is also a pathological liar. She literally lied about lying in the FOX news interview.

  19. So help me out here Green. What lies are acceptable under any circumstance? What makes a Hillary lie okay but a Trump lie not okay?

    I'm just curious as usual:confusedalt:
