I've seen the debate on whether or not leaving a plant in the dark for anywhere from the last 2 days to the last two weeks will or will not increase the crystal and resin production its for white strains bla bla bla, my question is has anyone noticed that the descriptions for a few of the white widow seeds at the attitude have been updated to include: "(60%/40%) indica/sativa cross-strain and is best suited to indoor cannabis cultivation. Our original seeds grow as high as 35-80 cm with the yield up to 450 gr per m2. It's suggested to flower (12 hour light) this marijuana variety for 8 weeks, but 10 weeks will really give you the crystals you are after. Try to turn the lights off altogether the final 2 weeks of the flowering cycle- or at least down to 8 hours. This keeps the flowers from re-growth and stresses the plant into giving up its last drop of goodness as crystal to protect the flower! The buds have so much THC on them that it is hard to see them at all." and i know this wasn't so before, i ordered my seedsman seeds white widow fem from them last year and that was most certainly not in the description. when i first started last year i grew a white dwarf and left it in the dark for an entire day, but honestly i was too new to notice anything anyways, and now with my second run of seedsman white widow i am four weeks in flowering and am going to pop the question to you guys, should i stick with what ive been doing, or should i take attitudes advice and go down to 8 hrs of light and atleast a couple of days in the dark before harvest? and here is some bud porn for you guys, as you can see i went topping crazy on this plant since it was my second go round, it has a split in the main branch and a split on each of those, and after that i couldnt tell you, i just know i topped 8-10 different times
That's awesome, looks like you have some palm trees or something! I like your topping job. I really like what you can do with such an easy technique. I usually only do it once during veg, but your palm trees are sweet looking. To answer your question I just recently noticed that too, and was thinking the same thing (you know what they say about great minds and all ). As far as leaving your plants in complete darkness for two weeks I just don't think I could do that. I could see moving it down to 10/14 or 8/16, but 0/24 just doesn't seem right to me, maybe for a day or two but not a week or more. I've read all the posts talking about it, but I can't justify going below 10 hours of light / day. As far as 8 weeks or 10 weeks or 12 weeks, I've never trusted a breeder. I don't even follow the amount of weeks of growth anymore. I just wait for her to tell me when she is done. I found that serves a couple of purposes. Obviously 1 is I get dank weed, but the other, and possibly more important as far as growing is concerned is I don't actually know how far along they are, and because of that I can't rush it out of being anxious for it to finish. I just know when she is ready to go I'll check her trichs daily, and when they are at the desired level, she gets the old A SON CHOP!
i never noticed it but yea it sort of does look like palm trees haha, this plant actually came from my first attempt at cloning, the mother i topped once just before flipping the lights, so this time around i vegged for around 3 months and just decided to top it a ton of times to see what would happen and bam palm tree white widow is what happens lol. the problem is that my stems coudl be a bit thicker to support the weight, i've got strings and stakes as a support system right now as it's a bit top heavy, and the side with more buds tends to lean that way. and an awesome side effect of this, and ill try to post pics sometime, the lower branches that i topped from the weight and light blockage from higher foliage, have automatically lst'd themselves and the shoots and buds are growing straight up like i tied it down and trained it and 2 weeks of dark is retarded to me, i think im just gonna gradually lose more and more light and get to 8/16 for hte last week of flowering, and your right about the breeder's time frame, my last widow was down in about 7.5 weeks, it straight killed off all its leaves on it's on with a week and half flush
I also noticed that in there description of the WW. I think that has to be a mistake I cant see a plant benefiting from two weeks of complete darkness, I would not be able to do that to a almost finished plant. Awsome looking plants you have though, how much light are you using on those pretty girls? Have you tried other breeders WW?
yea two weeks sounds insane, i mean ive seen it before on various threads on the internet, but to see it on quite a few of the ww's at a seed bank website made me wonder if there was some actual truth to it and no i havent tried any other breeder's, i got the seed last feb when i decided to start growing, grew it out and cloned it and this was my first clone mom that is flowering, it's under a 1000w hps, with a few cfl's, started out under 300ish watts of cfl for 1.5 months, then 1000w mh for 1.5 months, and here we are about to finish the 5th week since i flipped the lights and here's some pics of the branching that lst'd itself, and my new mom that is being lst'd, already been topped once
