Should people be allowed to eat cats and dogs? I think yes, I'm not saying you have to eat them, im just saying I don't think we should condemn people for doing it based on an emotional or cultural objection. They're not wild animals, they're domestic, so no. It'll never fly in our culture, it's already very deeply ingrained that cats and dogs are pets, not food. Would be terribly hard to break. And very hard to convince people that companies should start raising dogs and cats for the sole purpose of killing them for food. More groups than PETA are going to be up in arms about something like that.
Yeah it definitely wouldn't be cool in our culture, but I don't think I could say that no one should be allowed to eat cats/dogs. Hell, some people eat rabbits, other people keep them as pets.
Yeah, I'm not trying to argue that you shouldn't, because I don't believe we really should be told what/what not to consume as a basic human privilege, unless you impede on someone else's privileges and rights (stealing their dog/cat, ect). I just can't see it ever flying. Nor do I think we should be raising domesticated pets for slaughter. Seems like it violates some moral rule lol. Even though it really doesn't.
Yeah, I hear ya. I totally want to say "nooooo! Don't eat kitties and doggies!!" but I know there's no real valid reason behind that other than "they're cute and I loooove them!!!" At least here in the US, I don't think that would fly under animal cruelty laws. But if say some poor family who can't afford food has a dog that dies by natural causes and they decide to eat it... I mean, there's no law against that, right? There was that European dude who turned his dead cat into a remote control dead-cat helicopter... I feel like eating it is at least doing something more useful with it's body. (Not that a dead-cat helicopter isn't totally useful of course)
ever watch Madventures? theyve eaten both cat and dog on that show. then again theyve eaten monkey brains, and leeches filled with their own blood aswell.
i hate to double post but i bet if you did some research on the 30s youd find that plenty of people ended up forced to eat the family pets.
Oh for sure. And of course there are other cultures where it's totally acceptable, and who are any of us to tell them otherwise? But if my next door neighbor was like "hey, check out this husky puppy I just got! When he gets big enough, I'm gonna kill him and eat him!" Then I'd be like

while thats true, im willing to bet thats an efficiency thing. there is a lot more to a single pig than there is to a single dog or cat. cultures that eat cats hunt them in the wild, and dog im pretty sure is more expensive than other meats.
I remember watching a story on TV many years ago, about a dog, living on a farm, that was best friends with a horse. The dog refused to eat dog food that contained horse meat.
Dogs have too much personalty for me to eat one. Cows they walk around all dayeat grass and fuck when you let em. Cats are intolerable pieces of shit and I fucking hate them. Eat them all idgas.
I was watching some video a while back about Asians eating dogs and cats. It's a normal thing to do in some parts of Asia. The way they killed these animals was disgusting. They'd drop live cats into boiling pots of water, or skin dogs while they were still alive. I guess they think animals taste better when cooked alive. It's so fucked up. At least kill the animal quickly and painlessly. I can't tell people what to eat but don't make other life suffer just so the meat will be a bit more tender. It makes me sick.
