The city needs to inspect my electrical work

  1. Well, I had a water well installed about 6 weeks ago and the guys that put the electrical wiring in didn't get a permit. The city knows and wants me to get a permit and inspect the wiring to the breaker box. When he opened his wallet to give me a card I saw a badge very similar to a po-po badge. Do city inspectors carry badges of some sort? I really don't need some dude snooping around in my basement. I did verify he worked for the city and that he was an electrical/elevator inspector III. That badge is freaking me out like a mofo. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Yes, they do, actually.

Here's an example, it's a little out of date, But it was the first hit on image search, haha/

  3. So this badge just means that they are an employee of the city? I am going to assume that it doesn't give them a right to open a door to a closet if they have any doubts that there is activity going on like the po-po would do?

  4. They need extra warrants for anything with a lock on it

  5. Precisley.

Just in case, don't have anything in plain view and your fine.
