The CIA's influence on main stream media

I wrote a thread a while back about Operation Mockingbird which is the CIA's secret campaign to influence western media with their lies and propaganda. This is how we are able to be in constant conflict attacking the "bad" guys while making the USA look like the "good" guys.

Here's some great video from that late 1980s about the CIA's influence in Angola, South Africa and Nicaragua as told by former-CIA officers and journalists.

Fred Bridgland

is a British writer and biographer. During the Angolan Civil War, he revealed South Africa's secret invasion of Angola, and in the 1990s he revealed human rights abuses committed by UNITA rebels under the command of Jonas Savimbi. Critics have derided his biography of Savimbi, Jonas Savimbi: A Key to Africa, as the work of an apologist.[1] Bridgland has denied this claim in interviews, saying rather he was just a biographer.

John Stockwell

is a former CIA officer who became a critic of United States government policies after serving in the Agency for thirteen years serving seven tours of duty. After managing U.S. involvement in the Angolan Civil War as Chief of the Angola Task Force during its 1975 covert operations, he resigned and wrote In Search of Enemies, a book which remains the only detailed, insider's account of a major CIA "covert action."

David MacMichael

is a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analyst. A ten-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he was a counter-insurgency expert in South-East Asia for four years.[1] He also served as an analyst for the National Intelligence Council from 1981-1983. MacMichael graduated with an MA and Ph.D. in History from the University of Oregon.
