I took some clones from my current grow to make mothers for next year. I have 3 NL#2's and one Sativa mother. The sativas get so large I am thinking of doing a mostly indica grow for next year. I also have one Lethal Purple mother (from seed which I need to clone) and ten seeds that went into 8 hours light today to sex. Today being <st1:date year="2007" day="25" month="8">August 25th 2007</st1:date>. I am growing them under a 250 watt Harmony Grow Bulb. Here are some pictures from 11 days ago in the cloning tray.
Here are some shots of the mothers as of 3 minutes ago. I am trimming every other leaf on the sativa to keep her small (Refer to picture below). I do not have much room for sativas to be growing crazy. Well I have the room though not the money for electric. I trimmed the indicas (nl2) abit as well to compact the nodes a bit. They are on 24 hours of light at current time as the Lethal is an auto flowering strain which I reverted back to veg.
If your Sativas are too tall, you should think about doing a SCRoG grow. Perfect for those tall Sativas, that just wont fit in a small indoor grow.

I do not have much room for salivas to be growing crazy. Try using small pots to control the Sativas size....try flowering a clone in on of the 4" pots ya' have. You will be pleasantly surprised.... Remember with MJ "Root bound is a state of mind" I flower in 16 oz soda bottles SOG style under 27 plants under 210 watts of CFL's...and they finish at 59-82 grams wet 13 to 21 dry....I harvest 3 of those every week Sativas luv SOG style of growing ......SOG was developed in the early 80's by S.S.S.C. for flowering leggy Sativas indoors
Thanks for the advice however I recommend a sea of green and zero stress in my grow room as the length of flowering is increase with larger plantss and yield seems to be decreased from my experience. For Sativas I recommend taking clones at three inches and starting the budding of the clones at 4 to 6 inches. Most sativas will not grow over 2.5 times the initial size. This way you have lots of easy trimming single cola plants that are easy to rotate to maximize secondary lights that is many times wasted. Also you can twist the bottom of the stems during the two week veg time and first couple weeks of flowering to create scar tissue that also slows down the growth rate regarding height. I would finish my AK47 at one foot from the soil with a 9 inch cola and a bottom stem the size of my thumb. I would pierce some of them with grow rocks however I would not recommend this unless you have at least 100 to play with. I look at it like this. The single colas finish taking up 8 inches by 8 inches and such give at least 7 grams dry weight with out chemical cancer scar tissue that would deplete quality yet make them three times as heavy. Now the average 1000 watt tracked will cover 10 by 12 if you rotate the plants every couple days. That 120 x 144 which is 17280sqin then divided by 64 is 270 plants. figure 100 a quarter for headies no problem and that 27000 every two months for each 1000 watt. I should mention as well that once your mothers are established you can do a perpetual harvest which should fit about 20% more plants in the grow space as well as increase your monthly yield by the same. I am not to big on strains like silver haze as the last time I got clones of it they took 88 days to harvest and the extra time came with little added benefits besides a slightly different curing color and leaf structure. Dr - I would love to see your grow. What ferts do you use? I am looking at your gallery, nice stuff
Here are some pictures of just now. I just started the four foot track. 5 minutes each way. The sativa is leaning down and about to get another hair cut. About to take some more clones
Here are the 19 babies the three mothers, out of the cloning tray themselves on August 15, have so far produced. All with only one 250w cfl Harmony Grow Bulb. The mothers are here too. They have a couple clones that can be cut though I do not want to start another tray just yet. They can relax for a few more days.
A couple more days until I can take a few more clones. I picked up a new addition to the family today on my search for black 22 gallons (no luck). She just got transplanted with a bit of alaska 5-1-1 and thrive alive green. The cropped one is the sativa mother. I am thinking I do not want to cut any clones off of her or top her though I want to also keep her under a foot high come next april. I would like to see what she can do with that many nodes in the swamp with no cuts and 50 gallons of promix to herself. So far she seems happy. I kind of want all indica unless I can afford another room for my NL#2 Lethal Purple cross. If I have any all purple hackers I will clone that like crazy as well. No luck on the last order. So far its been 1 out of 20 that hatched purple. I hope to try my luck again soon if work picks up. I did get a job offer today which sounds like a good time. The Indica mothers are doing well. Here are some shots of them as well and the lethal purple auto flower I am trying to talk back into veg. We are still negotiating. Also is a picture of Dragon Lilly and thee Indian Rope Plant
My closet felt empty so I decided to start up another tray. I found 26 more clones to come off my three, month old mothers. Here are some photos. The new tray (26 clones) The old tray (lethal purple flowering clones yellowing a bit. Two NLs came out today. One was put in a one gallon.)(The four larger square containers are the Lethals)(The yellow leaf in the middle on the NL is from when I touched it to the bulb or more dropped the bulb on the plant) The shorter mothers.
I turned the 4 foot track on this morning which takes about five minutes each way. I may set up a quicker shorter track that I can control the distance moved as I really only need 2 feet of track.
I would be happy to explain anything you would like. Please ask if you would like to know details. Until then check this out.... I discovered it back in 2005 while trying to find out why these symbols were made illegal by the church. Genetics go in waves of 6 and 12. It is one of my favorite subjects if anyone is up for a discussion.
So I come home the other day and my window on my front door is smashed. I go inside and walk up to the room. The room usually has a lock on the door. A combination lock. It was on in the morning though was laying on the floor open and uncut. Half of my new clones and three of my mother plants were taken. I hooked up another full time 250watt cfl to make up for the loss and installed a better lock. I put up a fence today and am thinking of getting a puppy or full grown dog soon. I would like to get a rottie female and pit male and see if they like each other. The first half of the harvest is dry. Plenty of NL2 / Lethal Purple cross seeds which I am calling Northern Purple. I am thinking about setting up shop on my site and see if the feds would like to do anything. I transplanted 5 clones today. Today has been a beautiful day of productivity and yummy buds. Got to go fill the pipe again. Hope all is well with every one.

Those are some powerful breed dogs your thinking about. If you get them make sure they get plenty of exercise and you don't just use them to protect your operation. Sucks about the break in...
