1.1 BASE NUTRIENTS

base nutrients are your core nutrients normally divided into
vegative a/b and florral a/b. meaing normally base is made up of 2 nutrients put in your water seperately. 2 for veg growth and 2 for flowering. base nutrients are an absoulute nessesity for hydroponic
growing and cannot be avoided. some examples below

 

There are many many additives ranging from bloom boosters to root enhancers to enzymz micronutes, nutrient trace elements and even to some that claim to reduce node stretch and even enduce new growth.the most common additives are:

PK 13/14 witch is a BLOOM BOOSTER. fast growing plants may need additional Phosphate (P) and Potassium (K).PK 13/14 stimulates floral development during the blooming phase, providing exuberant flowers and larger yields. Depending on the EC values and the type of growing medium used, this additive contributes to improved bloom and fructification. The form of the nutrients used requires a very small amount of absorption energy. This allows the plant to fully focus on blooming.

MULTIENZYMS is a collective term for a wide range of useful enzymes, which are very important for plant processes. enzymes help to convert the plant's nutrients, strengthen its immune system, and help to dispose of residuals in the substrate
(lots of plant boosters, and keep your plants healthy kind of additives, are just multienzymz in disguise)

ROOT EXCELURATORS ensure the explosive growth of the roots and rid the plant of brown roots, root sickness and mold.

TRACE ELEMENTS are used to prevent and correct deficiencies or imbalance in the assimilation of essential trace elements in ecological plant cultivation.

these are 4 basics explained but there are 100z more although the average grower will proubly not encounter them. many additives can be fed to the plant through spraying on the foliage aswell as added to your nutrients.

oviously there are many nutes(nutrients) used for different purposes and conditions so quality judgement can be an issue, but why issit when 2 different brands go head to head in the same race, lets say indoors hydroponics, some come out on top?
Now i dont want to turn this into a science lesson because we was all disfunctional at school '' hence why we grow weed '' but the answer is a little complex. Its all to do with chelates, im goanna keep this simple, chelates are agents that are basically responsible for the ease and performance of cosumption of nutrient by your plant. the more chelates in a nutrient mix the higher ratio of food your plant can actually use from it, hence why 2 of the exact same plants could be eating a 1100ppm mix from 2 differant brands 1 will suffer nute burn the other will not. this is because chelate concentration. plant 1 could only effectively use 700ppm from its food even though it has 1100ppm. whilst food 2 with the higher chelate ratio effictively delivers closer to the 1100ppm to your plant.
