The best band of the 90s ?

  1. The 90s is a decade we're all familiar with, so who was the best band of it's era? The band has to have formed in the 90s and made at least one album in the 90s. For me two bands stand miles above every other for their unbelievable musical dexterity and talent.

    Incubus

Ridicolously talented and possibly THE most versatile band I've ever heard, ever. These are the only band to make a world class album in completely different styles. Mike Einzigers guitar mastery immediately stands out, as does Brandon Boys versatile vocal range. Every band member is a master on his respective instrument and each has unusually extensive creativity. S.C.I.E.N.C.E is the obvious choice for their best album for it's stupidly impressive originality and stellar execution of musical verve. But having said that, Morning View, Make Yourself and Fungus Amungus are all excellent. Here's a few of my favourite Incubus' tracks to show their extreme versatility.

The other band is known as...

    Rage Against the Machine

What can you say about these guys? They're the greatest angry band I've ever heard, period. And don't come in here shouting your mouth off about random thrash metal bands that are 'better,' I will slap you so hard you'll never be able to stand again. When they made their self entitled debut album, the world shook from the ferocity of their raging musical talent and rock has never quite been the same since. It was definitely without a doubt the best album of the 90s, EVERY SINGLE track is a total fucking gem. Litterally every single track on the album, yes thats right, EVERY SINGLE ONE is mindblowingly good. Okay they may not have made an album as good since, but the fact remains they are a stupidly talent band who have remained consistent through the years. Tom Morello is top 20 greatest guitarists of all time, his enginuity and originality is unparalled. He simple makes sounds that a guitar wasn't supposed to make, and he makes them SO well. Tim Commerford is a king on bass and his riffs never fail to impress. Zazh De Rochas rage fueled voice was simply made for the band and fits the angry melodies perfectly. Here are a few of my favourite tracks by them.

    Know Your Enemy

  2. Primal Scream

  3. Rage, Nirvana, Foo Fighters.

Flame me all you want for the Foo Fighters...the fact remains that Dave Grohl is one of the BEST overall musicians in the world. I wish him and Chris Cornell from Audioslave/Soundgarden would meet up and make some crazy shit! Two sick ass artists that can do so much..would be nasty..Anyone heard Zachs new shit? Hes in a new 2 person band.

  4. dick delicious and the tasty testicles.

    /thread.

  5. Pearl Jam:

  6. Alice In Chains or the Smashing Pumpkins

  7. Wu Tang!!

  8. Nirvana or Pearl Jam

  9. ill go with nirvana.

  10. i dont want to repeat what other people put. .

    Third Eye Blind.

a lot of people havent listened to their music aside from the three or four megahits that were on the radios back in the 90s. . .

but steven jenkins is an amazing lyricist in my opinion

(most of the songs on their red album are about his relationship with Charlize Theron, a little known fact)

  11. Nirvana, without question. I'd put Pearl Jam second. Incubus third. Rage is awesome but they don't compare to Nirana. Rage is doing a reunion show in minneapolis on sept. 3, it coincides with the republican national convention. I'll be there, check it out.

  12. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Red Hot Chili Peppers yet.

  13. ditto that

  14. How about Blind Melon? I got a pic of them in my sig. they were very talented and shannon's singing was awesome. they had very orginal music.

They reformed with a new singer back in like 05 or 06. But its not the same lol.

    r.i.p shannon hoon.

oh and my other choices. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, AIC,

  15. Man there are too many to name. I seriously think the 90s was the best decade for music (flame away ). The Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, OLD Green Day, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, basically the whole grunge scene. Hell, even in mid to late 90s Blink 182 was in their prime. Metallica had some of their best songs released. Rage Against the Machine is probably my favorite band from the 90s. But I'd say it's impossible to pick one. There was also Stone Temple Pilots, one of my favorite bands.

  16. Sublime and Incubus.

  17. sublime
