(Warning! Over sharing and rambling ahead! You’ve been warned!)
(Also I am aware of the dangers of stoned driving. My apologies in advance.)

    (Background info)

    Greetings!

I have been smoking for sometime now (probably a couple of years now. all day, everyday) and my tolerance has always been an issue, as I have not taken many if any tolerance breaks throughout this period but even so I have always been rather tolerant to THC. Recently, however, over this past month I haven’t been getting high at all. Even after 5 grams through a couple of blunts and multiple dabs in a short period of time, hardly any “high” although I have been getting this extreme light headed feeling, almost like an intense nicotine head buzz but no real psychoactive affects and after a short while it exits and it slowly has been intensifying over the past month until last night.

    (Incident)
I was driving home from work and per usual am ripping a THC cartridge and had been smoking all day so my THC levels were high but definitely not out of the ordinary. After a couple of rips, (still not high maybe a little buzz going) I started feeling that light headed feeling but this time my vision started darkening to the point where I could not see anything other than brake lights. I was traveling 60 mph coming up fast on a major intersection and I could not move a muscle yet this entire time I was still 100% coherent and aware of what was happening and I was trying everything I could to stop or turn the wheel and to wake up and snap out of it but to no avail and I was slowly fading out and finally I passed out with the feeling of certain death traveling towards the intersection.

Luckily, I came too a short (I’m not certain how long I was “out” for) second later still barreling at the intersection but with enough time to stop and pull over. I don’t know if it was the “trauma/shock” but right after I felt extremely sober (still within 15 minutes of a couple of big rig dabs of some really good crumble and those cartridge rips) and just not right in the ol’ noggin.

    (Summary/overall question)
Unfortunately this puts me at a crossroads. Smoking has been wonderful for me as it counteracts all the negative side effects of my Rx medication yet still leaves me (IMO) 100% productive but obviously if I am passing out this is not sustainable. As of today, I have put the weed on the shelf and am planning on attempting my first T-break for 45 days. My philosophy behind this is that my tolerance is just to high and too reach my desired high, I have to intake so much THC that my body/brain just decides to shutdown and go to sleep rather than fight it since I am not high when this is occurring and does not seem psycho-related but rather more physical although I am aware that OD’ing on THC is realistically impossible and that many others can intake just as much THC with no issues (that I am aware of) so I am not certain if it has anything to do with the THC.

As of now I am 10 hours into my t-break and it has been hard as my first instinct anytime I have discomfort or aches and pains is to reach for the Mary Jane but I will push on.

So with that all said I would love any advice, similar experiences, or knowledge my stoner brethren and sistren have to offer.

Edit: In your experience and opinion is it better/easier to quit smoking by easing yourself off and coming to a stop or just stopping abruptly?

  3. Been growing 6 years now and onlynever taken 1 t break but i dpnt smoke all day just in the evenings and ive built a tolerence thats seemed to platue i get high but a g used to last me a weekend when i forst started now i prob smoke 2G

But what you experienced wouldnt be by anychance a lack jn oxygen at that point if ya smoke alpt with out breathing inbetween you can pass out.

Also ive seen a mate while we were walking in his loft he just fell over but his eyes rolled back as i looked over to him he stood kinda wobbly for 2 seconds then began to fall but came round on the way down Nd was able to put his hands out he got up and was like wtf was that. He had been chuffing away like a chimney and before he had that turn he passed the joint took several big hits passed it held in the smoke for like 5-8 seconds then boom started to pass out. Hes never expierence anything like it and he wasnt like super high or anything.

  4. Thank you for sharing. Glad to hear it isn’t totally unheard of. I am suspect oxygen deprivation as it was a similar experience in someways. I was curious if since my tolerance is rather high, so to get high I have to get so much THC in my bloodstream that it in turn makes my oxygen levels low. That’s just a theory that’s been stewing on my mind and by no means is factual.

Regardless I believe that the tolerance break is my best/only option from here.

    Cheers!

  5. Will definitely give this a shot. This first day has been hard and I am hoping it gets only becomes easier from here. Definitely looking for some safe, crave, ending alternative. What I am doing for now is locking all my Mary Jane and accessories in a safe at my house as I usually carry enough bud and wax on me to get a village high. Resisting busting into when I get home will be the next challenge.

    Thanks for the advice!

  6. Consider the possibility that chronic/med user psycho-sensitive tolerance's big elephant in the room might be that people looking for a "high" (representing a subjective change in consciousness of some sort) have simply overlooked being already "high." The change they crave might have become a long-term chronic mental state shift which dissipates more slowly until they no longer recognize and associate the act of ingesting the substance as the "high" they have become addicted to.

  7. To get high you have to be sober first, I learned that from experimenting with edibles. They last longer and you can forget that you are 'high', or the high becomes the new 'normal'.

Fun fact: Novelty is what creates dopamine in the brain, quitting weed for a while can actually feel great. That why some people think weed caused them 'depression' while the brain just likes something to change, routine is fucking boring.

Maybe the brain got bored of thc and it's now exciting like drinking water..

  9. Sound like something was lookin out for ya or ur just lucky. Good learning exp either way. Hope ya make it through a good long t break so ya can enjoy smoking again.

  10. I definitely agree and think that once I started spending as much time high as I did sober was when it really started to go down hill but since I haven’t really been sober in a LONG time, I sometimes forget I am stoned and that my eyes are super red and I’m rambling etc…

I must say my experience so far has been feeling extremely shitty and queasy since the moment I woke up and missed my daily morning toke.

Thank you for sharing, much appreciated!

  11. Definitely. I had been smoking and driving since I learned how to drive but now more than ever it is unnecessary. Hoping to make it through this T-break so I can finally get ripped again. Fingers crossed.

  12. I haven’t driven solber in years but never had a reaction to cannabis like u described. Prob things to come for me. I’ll wake this thread up in 5 years with questions for ya on how u handled it.

  13. So yeah, WRT the REAL problem:
Likely nothing at all to do with the drug, usage pattern or anything like that. Huffing away like that probably just momentary oxygen debt causing a partial blackout. More to the point, tho - what do think might be more enjoyable? The bloody accident scene, the court/jail process or possibly the damage to your family and friends after you're gone? Jezus h fucking krist. Grow the fuck up.

  14. After heavy use for a while smoking pot can cause profound hypotension. It sounds like you're one of the guys this happens to, you can get a blood pressure cuff and check yourself. I have high blood pressure and I'm about maxed out on medication. My hypertension is so unresponsive to meds I have to have a pint of blood removed every so often to make my blood a little less viscous and that works. Sometimes my oil capsule will drop my pressure into the 70/35 range and I feel faint. But that doesn't mean that what happens with you. You have had a warning though, if you continue to drive when you're smoking and you pass out and kill someone you will know it was preventable and it was all your fault.

So do you have access to a blood pressure cuff? It'll be a fun experiment, check yourself while you're straight and again after you're loaded. Report your results here. And for me it's much easier to take a tolerance break by completely stopping for a few days and no cheating. It works a lot better also.
