THC isn't bad... Nicotine isn't Bad??

  1. THC and Nicotine isn't bad for your health, only tobacco is?? So why smoke cigarettes to get your nicotine craving, i'm sure there's many other ways. I like the effects of Nicotine, keeps me awake more at school, and ready to learn. So if its addicting who cares, its prob no more addicting then sugar or any other things. If you have the money to get Nicotine products, like gum perhaps, than there really is no negative side to achieving that state of stimulant. So instead of chewing Trident, I should start chewing Nicotine Gum at school?? Does it have enough nicotine in it to feel that??

  2. Nicotine gum has actully been proven, even in those who have never smoked, to cause elevated cancer rates...

    No more addicting than sugar?

Sure, and heroin's no more addicting than cinnamon, why don't you bang it before school instead.

  3. this. nicotine is evil.

  4. Many people are saying it isn't bad at all, so i guess its up for interpretation.

  5. I'm sorry, but you must be under 18 to be comparing nicotine to sugar...

    That's just plain ignorant.

  6. I guess i just don't see how it is ignorant. Food is really addictive, obesity is one of the most common deaths of all time. and the majority of people who die from smoking, smoke cigarettes, and not gum all their life, so thats why i asked the question and pinball wizard answered it quite well and i found the article explaining it, so i get big guy.

  7. we need food though, nicotine is bad for you compared to thc.

  8. You should do some research before posting threads like this. People may be dependant on food, video games, or even weed but not physically. Nicotine is physically addictive which means when you dont have it you go through withdrawls and actualy feel like shit, instead of just having it on your mind/ being in a bad mood.

  9. I don't know... I could easily quit smoking before I could quit drinking pop. I wouldn't recommend chewing nicotine gum recreationally. I have heard it tastes horrible anyways.

  10. its two different things to compare. it wont work.. for one, your crazy if you think you can withdrawl off of sugar as bad as nicotine or heroin say.

quitting cigs was hard, stopping eating fast food, is not. end of story

  11. i've been smoking for like 6 years. i want to quit bad... shit is hard. cigarettes just feel so good after a bowl or blunt. when i'm eatin codones or drinking.. damnit. my lungs are like pitch black i know it... i'm gonna die in like 2 years from full body cancer. :l

  12. Well yes, nicotine is quite a chemical, but you don't need to play with it. As that article said, other nightshades make it as well, but that doesn't mean it's why they are good for you, though small amounts of it are probably not going to hurt you, and are going to be much less stimulating than a normal dose of caffeine, in those amounts.

*edit*I feel the need to say, I was joking about heroin. Just making really fucking sure I don't make some niave 14 year old OD on a school bus

  13. Uhh, I'm no expert at this, but I believe people smoke cigarettes/cigars, etc for the nicotine. Sure it builds into a habit, but initially, I think its the nicotine cravings. People also chew tobacco for the nicotine, which causes mouth cancer in the long run.

That article is bullshit. I looked for references for the "facts" and there was only one article on the original article's website referenced. I clicked the link to go to it and was brought to a bunch of unrelated stories, instead of the "reference". I clicked the other links that showed "facts on Nicotine" and they were totally unsourced, with no references whatsoever. The article is bullshit. Nicotine is well known for elevating cancer rates, and is physically addictive. Moreso then caffeine, etc.. it causes bad withdrawal symptoms and is not healthy in any way. You can find many documented scientific facts on those statements.

  15. Here, have this.

  16. Nicotine is an alkaloid and also considered a poison. Look it up. Many people working in tobacco harvests have come down with nicotine poisoning and died. It affects your liver, lungs, creates vomiting, etc... The amount it takes isn't much. Around the amount you'll find in 5-10 cigarettes. Many times a year children end up in hospitals for treatment because they ate cigarettes or cigarette butts. Direct contact with nicotine is always extremely dangerous. It is water soluble and can be absorbed into your skin causing the same things I mentioned above.

    HowStuffWorks "How Nicotine Works"

    Nicotine poisoning@Everything2.com

Those are a few things you can read up on about nicotine and it's risks of poisoning.

  17. The LD50 (lethal dose) of Nicotene is 50mg/kg for rats and 3mg/kg for mice. 40-60 mg (0.5-1.0 mg/kg) can be a lethal dose for adult human's. In comparison, Cocaine has a LD50 of 95.1 mg/kg for mice.

  18. This thread fails harder than Roman Polanski's escape attempt (too soon?)

It's bad, just isn't proven to cause cancer... yet. Have people isolated the same amount of nicotine without tobacco? I'd like to see that.

No, the gum is not the same amount. I don't know much on it, but I do know it's used to go down on the amount you take in, so I know that in order to get the same amount, you'd be chewing an awful lot. Might be cheaper to just buy the cigs instead.

I don't care if people smoke cigs. It's a personal choice; I don't smoke them myself. But, addiction isn't to nicotine isn't so great and hard to kick from what I hear, and with the new bans closing in on our personal freedom... dang.

Ever try the smokeless cigs? I tried one; they're pretty good, saves a ton of money in the long run.

    Edit-

    Zing! Haha
