Texas small game laws

Discussion in 'The Great Outdoors' started by thatrooper515, Sep 12, 2011.

  1. I recently bought a .22 Rifle. Aside from going to the shooting range I have nothing to shoot. I was wondering in Texas do I need a hunting liscense or anything? I've heard that I don't but from others I could. I won't have time to take a hunter safty class to get my liscense till this winter. If anyone could help me out with some info or a link to something that will help me find my answer I would be very thankful.
I know this would be best to ask a game warder or a employe at a sporting goods store but also no time and do not feel like calling. Thanks

  2. In Texas if your 17 or over yes you have to have certification, but hunting licenses are only required for seasonal game, squirrel, blackbirds, rabbits and other non game animals are fair play. Stay away from fish and other animals, I was raised in west Texas and was raised with responsible hunting ethics an techniques. Be safe and enjoy yourself my friend. Kind regards, -c

just look up texas dwf (department of wildlife and fisheries).

You don't want to fuck up the laws.

Some states don't have closed seasons for certain animals. Like squirrel, coyote, rabbit.

Like where I live you can hunt pigs year round by any legal means, but you still need a license.
