How do I tell if a seed is fertile ? Would I be right in thinking that if I dropped it in water the fertile ones would sink float & the infertile ones would float?
I've never been one for the float/sink test. And what's the downside of trying to germ a seed you think is dead -- nothing! So I usually don't dwell on wondering and just go ahead with germing. Definitely good to soak the seeds before they go in the soil or paper towel, if they are viable they will fill with water on the inside and start the germ process.
