Tent-Carbon Filter-Fan Size

  1. Hello again my experienced friends :)

My light will be 240w Kingbrite Lm301h Cree V3.

    I have two questions.

I know this light is ok for 3x3 tent.

    1) Can I use this in 100cm (39'') x 100cm (39'') x180cm (70'') tent? (no 3x3 tent where I'm from) Like using the 3x3 part of the tent and 10cm will be free space? Or Getting a 120 (47'') x120 (47'') and using the 3x3 part of the tent and 30cm will be free.

    2) 330 m3 Carbon filter + 240 m3 S&P Fan is suggested for 100x100.

Can I get 467 m3 Carbon filter + 380 m3 S&P Fan? Will this fan be too powerful for this tent?

Length x width x height = sq foot

Sq foot x the amount of times you wish to turn over the air per minute. I recommend atleast 3. So......
    Sq foot x 3 = cfm needed

Personally I double that last figure and use a speed controller to dial the airflow back. A larger fan at half speed is generally quiter then a small fan at full blast. Plus the additional cfm gives options if you run into heat or humidity issues. Additional power also aids in long duct runs or bends in the dict work

Always buy a filter with a slightly higher cfm rating then the fan so the fan cant over power the filter and let smell out

I'm not sure of the metric conversion but I believe the dimensions of your tent was in feet.

Double as in 480 m3 fan and use speed controller? Will it suck the whole tent if 480 m3 is used full power? :)

I'm really sorry asking for too many questions as this subject really confuses me.

  4. There should be a little bit sucked in even at the recommended speed. No it will not hurt the tent at full speed I've done it often. Like I said though I'm not sure on the metric conversion to figure it out so that m3 means nothing to me. I'm speaking feet and square feet.

  5. Thanks for the reply.

    240 m3 is 415 ft2
    480 m3 is 660 ft2

  6. Ok, I guess now understand.

    My tent will be 3.28x3.28x5.9

    Sq foot is 63.4

    63.4 x 3 = 190.2 cfm and double that 380.4 cfm

So 240 m3 which is 415 ft2 is the logical choice?
