Temps are way too hot these days... can I flip my 12/12?

  1. I mean, it's not like the plant has some internal 24 hour clock, right? Longer night = more flower hormones. You want some light to offset this and help with growth...

Could I just leave the plant in dark an extra 12 hours and flip my 12/12 on it's head? I started with 8am-8pm so I could work on the setup during the day as I built it around my flowering clone, but now I'm realizing it's into the 90's during the day, and I could REALLY use the lower temps night provides, especially at this time of year.

So... what says the city? As long as she's healthy, a little more sleep shouldn't screw her up too bad, would it? She's like 2 weeks in right now if that matters.

  2. You can do it and in most cases there won't be problems.

  3. I could flip it a half hour later a day or something if doing it more gradually helped? if it's standard procedure to just take more "night" to fix a cycle time problem, I'll just flip it all at once.

  4. To do it that gradually, you'd need almost a month to finish. If you're going to do it then give them the one long night. Strains prone to hermaphroditism could have a problem but it's unlikely that yours will. I can't say it's impossible that no problems will arise but if they're displaying serious symptoms of heat stress then it may be the best way to go. It really depends on how bad the current stress is. Keep in mind that we're over the hill for summer heat and temps will only be getting lower. How much longer do they have?

  5. I know temps are heading down. but it's going to be a while before I see them even 10F lower, it's gonna be a warm next week or two. It's a Blue Dream clone (20% blueberry/80% haze IIRC), not sure the tendency to flip, but I feel like leaving it in these temps may be even worse. 2 weeks in.

Like I said, noob mistake, as indicated by still building around a flowering plant. Either way, I'm set up now, everything's stable, just temps are still too high. Nighttime air would be just the ticket. She got a bit dry (5 days no water) and just started showing some wilt, so I soaked her down at lunch. I'm thinking she should perk up a bit, I'll probably give her another day or two before I switch the cycles to let her recover.

  6. Dude the thing that triggers a plantto start to flower is that 12 hours of darkness thats means u need at least 12 hours..So what I would do in your situation would be to just leave them in the dark for 24 hours and then turn ur lights on when u want them on..I know what you are going through day time temps suck in the summer so the time for your lights to come on would definetly be at night and I would leave them that way through the winter night time in winter is ur coldest time so ur lights will be ur heater and then they turn off during the day and u shouldn't have to run much heat at all...:smoke:

  7. went home at lunch, she's recovered from the droop (gave her some water at bedtime last nite)

gonna flip her tonite (keep her dark for 24 hrs, so my new sched is 8pm-8am)

I agree with this. If the plant was going to hermie, the heat stress would do it just as easily as lighting changes.

  10. As do I

  11. tucked her in last night for a 24 hr nap, threw 3 of my month old bagseed in (the tallest ones)

I figure this should force sex, and I'll know if I should keep em or throw a dude out on his ass. Had room, so why not. If I get a strong female I'll throw her back into veg and grow her as a mother to clone. Leaving the smaller 6 bagseed on 12/1 to keep vegging

  12. Temps didn't get above 82. Awesome. :smoke:

  13. Good to hear dude....:smoke:

  14. Looking good!

Looks like I confirmed my suspicion on one of my seedlings...
