Temps and Volts Questions

  1. My rig -

    Gigabyte 990fx UD3 Motherboard
AMD FX6200 CPU Overclocked to 4.2GHZ
    corsair H100 water cooling
corsair 1050 watt PSU (for my DVD drive, SSD, Mobo, H100, Graphics card)
Antec 500 watt PSU (for my 6 fans in my case)
Sapphire HD Radeon 6870 Graphics card
    520 cherryville 120GB Solid State
    G. skill Sniper series 4x2 (8gb) RAM

In HW monitor my Cores each idle at 11 C to 20 C, would that be accurate? for some reason i find that not to be as cool as it should be.

    My TMPIN0 is 34 C / TMPIN1 is 26 C / TMPIN2 is 30 C
all idle, does idle even matter?

I try to overclock to 4.8 or 5.0ghz, but i always fail boot. How do i adjust my volts properly? Isnt my rig able to handle 5ghz? seems like it should with what i have.

I lowered my RAM speed to 1066mhz and then raise my vcore about .25
Do i need to adjust the VIN1 or NB/SB volts? i really dont know.

My Vcore Value and Min. is .88V / Max is 1.44V

What would I need to do to achieve 5ghz? It feels like my mobo is the problem but idk.

  2. That's very cool, it even seems colder then it should be, but it definitely shouldn't be colder with your cooler.

I don't know what's making it fail boot, but I wouldn't be trying to go to 5ghz with your cooler.

Also why do you have a separate psu for your fans?

  3. Yeah it seems like my PC is cool enough, the only reason i doubt it is because i cant overclock higher than 4.5 stable

I have a 2nd PSU just because my case supports two. 500 watt seemes way low, so i bought the 1050 watt. Might as well use both since i can. The lower class for my fans, the higher class for my vital hardware. Isnt that a good idea?

I think its a good idea. Man I haven't upgraded my comp in like 2 or 3 years. Still got the old. Q8800 lapped lol
