Temperature control

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by elgodo7, Sep 1, 2018.

  1. How do i control the temperature i am using a small grow tent 1.2m x 1.2m x 2.0m.
The tent is in a small boxroom you could fit 2 single beds in the room.
I am using 1 gavita pro 600w and 4 pots.
I have a extraction kit with carbon filter but the room and temperature remain too hot.( its summer in uk so hot in general too)

do i need a ac unit or should i wait till winter>?? also even in winter will i not need to keep room warm so will need a heater?

  2. your going to have to get the heat out. You have the tent vented with the fan and filter right? But now you also need to vent the room to the outside.

  3. You can either do that ^ or get an ac unit /bring duct from your ac vent into the tent for intake.
I hooked up a stand up a c unit and taped a box around the vent , cut a hole the size of the 4 inch duct I planned to use and push it through the hole in the box then run the duct into the tent. For extra air you can get a small booster fan. Something like 50 cfm or so and attach that in the middle between the a.c and the tent to give an extra push. They also have temp/humidity controllers that you can set high and low on and it will turn on or turn off your exhaust and intake if it gets out of range.

I live in a hot climate so I have a lot to do to keep my tent in check during the summer

  4. Unfortunately I dont have the option to vent outside so I have to come up with these ideas lol

  5. I have two tents with a 600w light in each in a small box room and I manage without an ac. Do you have a window open? What is the temperature difference between inside the tent and outside of it? Maybe you need a better fan. An air cooled hood may fix the problem. In winter you won't need a heater, they're not going to get cold with a 600w light above them

  6. Its all about ventilation when it comea to controlking your what issue. You need an intake fan to bring fresh air in, a 4 or 6 6inch intake fan will do the job. Then you need your carbon filter With another intake pushing all the stale air out. Plus you need at least one oscillating fan to nove some air around your tent. Hurricane fans are ideal but I would start with something a little more reasonably priced. Also check out growace.com for your intake fans or Amazon usually has decent deals. Good luck

  8. I'm in a similar situation. We had a heat wave here (Germany) and I can't afford AC. I do however have a 5 speed controller for my exhaust and intake fans. By speeding up or slowing down I can get from 5-8°c difference. During the heat wave I could drop the temps from 38° to around 33° by setting my 2 speed exhaust fan and the speed controller on high. It will come in handy for the winter as well by doing the opposite (turn down to keep more heat in the tent).

A good controller (probably called something else in English) is about 80-100€ but you could probably find a used one or even make one if you're knowledgeable about electronics

BTW, that's a huge tent. I used to have a 90x90 and thought that was big. I had to go stealth so now my tent is not only smaller, it's also inside a IKEA closet. You shouldn't have a big problem controlling the temps with some good 'ol human
    ingenuity.

Last but least, even with all the heat stress, the plants are doing okay...[IMG]
