  1. okay... So after hours of researching I have yet found an answer.. So, I'll ask and hope someone can help.

In my grow box (20"x20"x48") I'm using the following:

    4 26w CFL 6500k
2" intake hole (90 degree pvc elbow)
    small pc fan for outtake
reflectix & some white wall showing.

The temp. inside the box with fan/lights on the temp sits at 82 degrees.
    lights out = 68 degrees....

those degrees are with the lights 10" away!!! what do i do to allow lights to get close when they pop their heads out yet not burn them!?

I just moved the seeds into a cup and I want their home to be ready, so I don't have long to correct this.

  2. If you have a fan blowing across CFL, your plants can pretty much be touching them without burning.
If they are seedlings, your only need 1 26w light to start.

  3. so fan'in the cfl will allow it to be close to the plants and then not have to worry about it being too cool in there?

  4. Yes, CFL will stay cool to the touch if there is a fan blowing on them.

  5. 68 low and 82 high....thats not bad at all really, I'm at that exact setting.

  6. those temps are from 10" away. So when it gets closer... well you get it. Ok, so I will now have to find a small clip fan or another pc fan blowing towards cfl and plant.

    thanks all!

  7. a fan pulling out would do better that a fan pushin in. just pull heat of the top if ya can..
