Temp control?

Discussion in 'Do It Yourself' started by Itsmeagain, Jul 6, 2010.

  1. Anybody found or made a thermostat that can turn off/on something with as much load as an ac unit or electric heat?
Seen small ones in pet stores but I'm not sure they would be safe under that much load?
    Any ideas?

  2. They make them everyday and are installed in almost every house.

Its called a wall thermostat :devious:

LOL Oops! Left out a little to much info. 110volt Window ac and plug in heater.
Thermostat wired into an out let box.Plugs turned OFF/ On by temp.
Seen store bought ones in videos but figured them to be pricey. And i cant find them here.
Thinking someone has probably rednecked up something cool in here.
They sell warm/cold dials here that would work. But gheesh how hard could it be for them to calibrate and paint some degrees on it.
I could. But i was hoping for something more professional looking.
Did a web search, but theres looked a little to much redneck.

By the way i like your handle! :D

  4. Yep thats it! Wow ,day/night temp setting.
Wish they would have made a day outlet and a night outlet. One for ac during the day and one for heat at night. Need heat at night, ac in the day half the year here.
But that one will work! Just need window unit with heater built in.
    Thanks!
