Techno...

  1. What are your thoughts on techno?
I went to a techno concert tonight with one of my friends. He invited me because he did not want to be there by himself with his girlfriend and all her friends. I wasn't really impressed with the music. I mean, I felt it was too repetitive and I felt like they played the same song all night long. I even mentioned to my friend that those guys did not even really need to be there. They could have pre-recorded the whole thing and just let it play.
I don't know much about techno music but so far I don't think I like it and I don't find it interesting.May be I need to give it a chance but I don't really want to, lol. And yes I realize that there is more than techno (trance, house etc etc)

  2. what was the name of the band or dj?

  3. Well... They can't really pre-record it because a lot of what you hear is them mixing different tracks together, and adding their own effects with the mixers and shit... There's a lot more to DJing than most people think.

The same could be said for any type of music, though... Why have rock concerts? Just play the CD real loud over the speakers, and ya got the same thing, right?

If you wanna hear some GOOD EDM, check out this site: http://www.undergroundedm.com

    Check out the Hardcore/Hardstyle sections...

http://www.jenmas.com (she has mixes available for DL, check out the Femcore 2 & 3, and Crowdrockers)

    and finally:

Click view all blogs... There's links to some gooood ass mixes in there. Not all the links work, but the ones that do are definitely worth DLin...

EDIT: All the above links are distributed by the artists themselves. These tracks are available for FREE DLing, and it is in no way copyright infringement to DL these tracks.

  4. I really used to feel pretty much the same way you felt about electronic or techno music. This was until the first time I ate MDMA and was at bonnaroo. We stayed up all night dance like crazy to all the techno music. It was cool and somehow that has completely changed my views of it. I think a large part of the reason is because of the live aspect, it was so awesome. I now enjoy that music sober and really appreciate it.

I find it very impressive what good DJ's can do. You should try to not really pay too much attention to the actual "music" aspsect of it-- like you could listen to the guitar solo, drum beat, or bass line of a rock song. Listen to it as a whole and the vibes and feelings it gives you. idk...

I'll second that... I used to feel the same way... Until I started goin to shows, and saw how much really goes into it. Gave me a bit more of an appreciation, ya know?

Also... It helps to have GOOD Dj's spinnin... Techno sucks, IMO... I prefer Hardcore, Hardstyle, Gabber, Speedcore, DnB, and Jungle.... Though I've been known to get into some hard house, break beats, and hard trance... Jump's not too bad either.

  6. Yeah I get what you guys are saying. The music does get you pumped up and I'm pretty sure if there's people rolling, they are having the time of their lives. I didn't hate it. But it's not something I would listen to if I wasn't like at a club or a party. And I don't think you can compare it to a rock concert because there's so much more that goes into it, there's the visual aspect of it and the showmanship, theatrics and whatnot.

See that I didn't know, thanks for letting me know that.

  7. No problem :)

You mighta just went to a crappy show... Those happen some times, lol.

  8. I'm not really into techno to be honest, I just think its extremely trippy while rolling

  9. I think i like drum and bass style.
or whatever you would want to call Bassnectar.
    I love bassnectar

  10. It wasn't really that bad. Lots of hot girls! Lol....Oh yeah the guys' names was Above and Beyond or something like that.

  11. Hell yeah bassnectar is fuckin sweet!

  12. Personally a good live DJ can be just as good if not better than a live music act. A DJ's ability to work a crowd into a dance frenzy is no easy task.

I used to be into the Detroit Rave scene like 9-10 years ago just for the good drugs and the experience, now I've really learned to respect a DJ's ability to turn the party up and create energy.

  13. like someone else said, i never liked techno until i ate loads of mdma in a dance tent and just sorta tripped out on it..

    cool stuff :D

i mean i still wouldnt really listen to it at home chillin, but i have a new appreciation for it

  14. oh sweet jesus no wonder it was repetitive and you thought it was the same song all night. You went to a trance show. As far as trance DJs go, Above & Beyond are amazingly good, but, trance is a very 'soft' style of EDM.

Try out some drum & bass or jungle. I see the avatar there and I can only assume you're more into metal. So lemme hook you up with some youtube links of different drum & bass styles:

UK Apache & Shy Fx - original nuttah (just a note: this is one of the most classic jungle tunes ever)

Matty G - Bitter Love (this style is called dubstep, i believe its actually 1/4th beat drum & bass)

  15. Gotta love the bangin House:hello:

  16. yeah i didn't really dig house or trance music till i rolled for my first time

but we listened to ATB and dj tiesto and someother stuff all night and i just chilled and danced and now i love it sober or when i'm rollin even sometimes when i smoke like maybe some acid house or some downtempo trance

  17. well, most repeative techno does suck,
    but try some dj's like,

scarf, styles & breeze, or seomthing like,
    scatman-scatman john

  18. Yeah they can be pretty boring, trance is the sleepy genre of edm....epic trance is for the e-tards to cuddle puddle to and keep their arms up for the 10 minute breakdowns/buildups.

    Unless it's hard or psychadellic/goa

I have heard some good, energetic A&B sets though so maybe it was just a bad night for them.
