im a new hydro grower and i was thinking if i were to put something like a pump to keep the reservoir in movement, will it stop the buildup????
You can use a very light dose of H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) in your reservoir to clean out the algae buildup. Just search for it here or on google. ~Experimentalist
in the nutes!? if u mean when flushing it i already know how to clean the res. im asking if i get something that makes the water constantly move will it stop buildup
He means to add it to you nutrient solution. If you are going to use H2O2 try and get food grade, it is 35%, or industrial grade at 50%. The H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) you get in the hydro store isn't worth a damn. I use the 35% grade a 1ml per litre of nutrient solution. And yes, if you are going to mix up a batch of nutrient solution to last you for a few days or more, you will need to add a bubbler to keep the solution moving so that it wont bind together, and keep it oxygenated. Thats for both hydro and soil. EDIT: Also keep your res light proof.
Depending on the size of your res, a good size aquarium pump will work well to filter out this problem, and the H2O2 would not hurt either, about 1-2 ml per gl will do just fine. less
Aslong as it is used in in very small concentrations, it should not kill "ALL" of the beneficial bacteria. A good aquarium pump & filter will probably do the job w/out using the H2O2. Depending on the size of the res, just buy a good pump/filter for a slightly larger aquarium. In most cases, this should do the job and prevent any algea buildup. less
