A man after my own heart! Good for him. Even when he was putting her down and telling her how she is terrible she is,  she continues to sit there and not raise her voice above a whisper. Hands on teaching is what our children deserve, not packets!

  4. I work at a school and have mixed emotions about this video. I understand the young man's frustration and anger at the ineffective, boring teacher. I also understand the teacher's problem- teachers are faced with limited and shrinking funding, larger classes, students who are "horses" (as in "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink!") and refuse to work, poorly written, but flashy-looking text books are chosen by administrators, and have you ever corrected 30+ papers per class, three times or more a week? Teaching is no picnic!

We have students who have called teachers (and I quote) "Dirty stinking-ass bitch" after being told to behave several times before being sent to the office. She overturned an empty table as she left- she was back in class next period. Yesterday, there was a knock-down, drag out fight between two students (both suspended). Last Friday, another fight resulting from an off campus incident (more suspensions). Plus all the usual teen drama!

My school is in a very depressed, rural area. Hard drug use/ alcoholism is very common in the parents. Virtually every child at my school is on the free lunch program. My school, and the town it is in, are ultimately doomed- the mills closed, tourism is spotty, and there is no alternative industry. But I am still working my tail off (part-time now, since my hours were cut this year), trying to educate the kids!

  5. He said, "So don't try to take credibility for...". This is incorrect, credibility is not the same as credit. Before ranting and criticizing his teacher(s), it would have been far more effective to educate himself in elementary English so that he would not sound foolish.

And I thank you. I wish Ih ad teachers who gave a shit in school, but sadly through my experiences they gave less then a shit, so when I hear about a teacher that cares, feels nice. So thank you, and dont stop.

why wont the teacher let him speak, I mean it seemed like it wasnt just another teenager full of hot air, whenever I see adults interact like that, when they behave in a childish manner, it really frustrates me, because shes an adult teacher, she is suppose to lead by example, none of that "do as I say not as I do crap".  You gotta let people get a word in, what are you afraid of? if hes wrong, patiently wait for him to finish talking and then present a rebuttal. But all I heard from the adult grown up mature teacher, is mumbling hot air "no no get out no no" really? say something concrete, then you wonder why no one is paying any attention? did you not make that connection? I guess not.

  8. Hmm, I thought the days of long hair grunge were gone.

I think part of the problem with lazy teachers is that they are lazy(no shit). Someone should only get into teaching because they want to make a differance in a childs life, no other reason is exceptable. I have a buddy who is working on his PHD he wants to teach. I wouldn't let kids be taught by this man. His whole reasoning for wanting to teach is because "its an easy job with winter, spring and summer break".

Although that teachers probably shitty, the whole education system should take the blame. All superintendents care about are standardized test scores so they can get better federal funding.

In the school I went to they woulda had three sheriffs at the door before he was halfway done with his speech.

edit- its crazy how famous people can get overnight

Theres plenty of kids his age in high school. Its good that he went back to school to finish his education. That author needs to get his facts right too, the teacher told him to stop bitching which is completly out of line, and thats when he went on his rant. His mother also said that she supported what he said, just not his attitude.

Anger is natural while facing injustice.

I don't blame all teachers, because many of them just don't know how to teach, so they just revert to what they have been taught their whole lives: force, or they just give up.  I don't have any sympathy for a teacher that gives up and gets lazy.  If it were a private school, I would fire them in an instant.  You can work with frustrated passion; you can't work with laziness.

  12. I'm amazed out how many bad teachers there are out there.  I was lucky enough to go to private school where they didn't bring in "teachers" to just fill a spot.
Kids benefit greatly from good teachers and its sad to see the place this nation has come to

  13. You've never heard of 18 year olds in high school??  Uhh probably like half of seniors are 18 by the year's end

  14. Lol what the hell is Garrison talking about?

Yes, lets ARREST and EXPELL this kid for standing up to a teacher who is probably incompetent, and doesnt care about the job at all.

This is a very, very common problem among public schools. Teachers dont care to teach, its just another job to them.

But hey, anytime someone stands up to the systems bullshit, we should just throw them in jail right? Hurray America!!! Freedom!!! Education!!!

  15. There needs to be more people like this MAN... who went against the grain and spoke his mind and who in front of everyone, let it all hang out for 60 seconds! I admire him... I really do. 18, 15, 30, 100, the age does not matter when you stand up for your fellow man. More  people need to have courage like him, if more did this country would truly be the best country in the world!

  16. ive had teachers like that before, all they would do is hand you packet, and they expected everyone to know how to do it, without teaching anybody...i actually failed a class because of that......teacher wouldn't teach anybody

that being said, not all of them were like that...but most of them didn't really try and go out their way to help people though, some did, but most didn't at the school i had went to

  17. what is implied by speech matters more than the words said. we all understood what he said. you act like someone has never used the wrong word before.

  18. im proud of that kid
