okay so my sociology teacher today was saying that he thinks cannabis should stay illegal and tobacco and alcohol should also be illegal. then i asked him why cannabis should stay illegal and he told us that it has a bunch bad side effects, so i asked for a couple examples and he said memory loss then right away i stopped him and said that is only while you are high, then he gets onto his computer and shows the class a picture of 8 brains, the top 4 were normal ones and the other 4 were of "heavy" cannabis users. so once i got home i looked it up and apparently alot of these tests were done on mice and they injected them with only THC and it was equivalent to "670 hits from a water pipe."

does anyone else know anything about this? i want to look at this from a completely neutral position, id like to what the truth is, not what we want the truth to be or what those against it want the truth to be.

if you can show me some links to articles or whatever that i could show my teacher, cause he probably wont believe me if i just tell him.
    thanks in advance :smoke:

  2. ah nothin like 670 bong rips to start my day :)

  3. well your not gonna get a "neutral" position here but I feel after smoking alot the next few days I have very little short term memory loss but still some, but it goes away and I get my full memory capacity back.

  4. yes that happens because it takes around 3 weeks depending on your body to fully leave your system, but once it is out (im pretty sure) your memory and all that goes back to normal.

  5. I think it's safe to say a couple bong rips of some good nug makes me a little foggy.

Usually goes away in a day or two.

Nothing even similar to what a bottle of whiskey will do though.

  6. NORML.org and Granny StormCrow's MMJ List are both fantastic tools when discussing Cannabis with anyone who has at least a little common sense and reason. The best way to shoot down those who buy into and actively spread the negative propaganda is to make sure every single "fact" and claim is backed up by a reputable source or scientific study, as all claims are on both of the above resources.

  7. yeah i know i smoke about 200 grams every morning to!

  8. with the mice thing, it was because they didn't provide them with enough oxygen, which killed their brain cells, which caused them to get all fucked up. thank you to "The Union" (great movie for those of you who haven't seen it) for explaining this to me.

  9. Lol..

  10. yes i love that movie! and i think it was monkeys that they suffocated. this was a more recent test that sadly was also altered by giving them just thc and none of the other chemicals in cannabis, plus they gave them wayyyy toooo much

  11. the msot i did was 420 bong rips in 8 days:smoke::smoke:

  12. Wait you said the teacher compared different brains of cannabis using vs non cannabis using? so> Im guessing they look different but what does that mean? . We all know with every action there will be a reaction so of course cannabis may effect some if any kind of aspect of biological functioning. We know alot of users become more peaceful/ understanding/ open minded. Im sure this can be displayed in the brain as a change but i wouldnt necesarily call it a bad side effect.

Maybe theres some good maybe some bad. just like everything we eat or consume. I dont think any one substance in this world causes all good side effects with non bad. same for medicine. I mean everytime i eat an apple i have to poo bad. I dont know why the scientists arent alerting us of the real shocking effects of more commonly ingested vegetables or even highly dangerous or deadly household items.

  13. Imagine if the cartels had illegal alcohol to add to their source of revenue. Your teacher is a fucking dumbass.

  14. Shit, 670 bong hits? I do that many before I'm even fully awake.

  15. haha yea hes ignorant but smart. and im going to show him an article from norml.org in the health section

  16. It's the sort of scare tactics always used to justify prohibition. Note that to your teacher, cannabis, alcohol, and tobacco are interchangeable--what you don't like, you ban. Never mind the fact that cannabis is less toxic than caffeine, or aspirin, or Vitamin A, or hot peppers. You can be confident that most of his facts are made up.

There are risks to cannabis use; teens undergoing treatment for psychosis, for example, absolutely should not use it. In addition, inhaling smoke of any kind isn't good for the lungs.

More to the point, heavy, daily use of *anything* isn't a good idea. Then again, heavy, daily users of anything are rare--something your teacher has carefully decided to forget.

  17. no that was monkies wearing a gas mask. he is reffering to when they injected mice

  18. I do not enjoy being around "smart" people. I enjoy intellectual people, well read people, and wise people. Smart people are truly the dumb ones. What does being smart mean? It means you can do what your told... walk here, walk there, stand in that line. Hell that is great for smart people, but its not for me.

  19. Uh, ignorance is a child born from stupidity, not intelligence. Hopefully you can still get through to him with the truth, and defeat the ignorance that was likely planted there with propaganda.

  20. Here's the thing- if you inject ANYTHING into the bloodstream in that large of a quantity, you will see brain differences.

The same thing would have happened if you'd injected 500 oranges worth of vitamin c. Does that mean vitamins are bad?
