Tapped iPhone

Discussion in 'General' started by BustTheDutch420, Apr 5, 2013.

  1. So basically SWIM (someone who isn't me) had a run in with the police at SWIM's apartment this morning. SWIM wasn't arrested, but the police had good reason to believe that SWIM was/is involved in things SWIM shouldn't be. Later this evening, SWIM's iPhone begins to act a little funny.

SWIM can't use iMessage (only green bubble texts), data (only wi-fi) and when another person calls the voice mail is a women's voice saying that the number is currently disconnected (even though the call still goes through).

Should SWIM have reason to believe that their phone is being tapped? What should SWIM do to fix this?

SWIM lives in a small college town, and yes, the police in that town have the time/resources to go after VERY minor crimes.

Any help is appreciated, thanks GC :smoking::smoking::smoking::smoking:

  2. What sorta stuff is SWIM involved in?

  3. Not sure if it's allowed to be discussed. I'm just going to say its relevant to this website.

  4. If it is relevant why would it not be discussed?

  5. For the cops to "tap" a phone, they need a subpoena. They would not be able to get one that quick. What we have here is one paranoid SWIM

  6. honestly that sounds just like if the police were monitoring it.. sounds sketchy buy a burner for awhile.

  7. Depending what he is into they could have gotten it before they even went there.

  8. Wait this thread is about swimming?

  9. Against the rules of the forum

  10. Is this actually true? I thought they could freely monitor cell phones since the patriot act was put into effect.

  11. SWIM would much rather just buy a new iPhone, get a new number and new apartment.

SWIM isn't running Baltimore street corners, not sure burners are really necessary.

  12. a burner as in a pre paid cellular device.

plus fuck iphones at 100$ a month

  13. I wouldnt get an iPhone if i were you, since Ive heard you cant take the battery out and you can be tracked even with your phone shut off.

If SWIM is slinging, Wouldnt it be better to use something... Safer?

    I dunno

  14. I think that only applies to Feds. The cops still have to have a court order.

  15. Police/third parties can't read iMessages sent between 2 iPhones. One main reason why SWIM has one and uses it for sensitive things.

  16. I know what a burner is hahaha.

    SWIM only pays $50

  17. Apparently this isn't true. Just googled it. Local police only need warrants for home phones. Cell phones are fair game.

  18. I really doubt they will confirm that there is a court order to tap your phone.

Just do what they did on Casino...have your girlfriend call swims girlfriend and have them yap yap for the first 5 minutes :D
