thanks for taking time to stop and look at my grow. This is my first coco grow and second grow altogether. I had an aero grow but it actually outgrew my space and became unruly and I chopped it early.

These were actually part of a much larger sea of green grow however these tangerine dreams are all that's left of it. When the space opened up I bent/LST'd these seven TDs over, so that I could lower the light to get to the lower bud sites an increase yield. These were put into flowers straight from clone with no veg time.

From my research and a feeling I think these will probably be ready in 2 to 3 weeks closer to the three-week side of things. Right now they're getting a flush to deal with the nutrient burn that you might see in some of the pictures. They will be getting one more good feeding or two and I'll start the flush.

The last few days I've noticed the calyxes swelling considerably, the plant is quickly putting on size, and starting to get very frosty. They've been in flower for about eight weeks now so I know it's time for these to really start to finish out.

I love any questions comments or tips that anyone might be able to provide:hello:

Sorry for not many pictures my connection is terrible and it takes forever to load one picture.

PS sorry for any typos I am using a speech to text program due to reconstructive hand/wrist surgery so sometimes the translations may be off.

thanks for stopping by and checking things out

  2. Couple more pics of the ladies after I woke them up this morning.also there's a pic of the praying mantis I added to the grow, he's been living in here for over a month and I think and what's cool is that this is not enclosed she could leave whenever he wanted but he seems quite happy here. I throw him a stink bug every time I find one in the house, and anytime I see a fat cricket in the yard catch I will catch it and give it to him. His name is Magnus (not really sure if it's a he or a she but the name works). He was also not pleased about me moving him for that last picture but I think it is worth it it a great shot of him. I'll go find him a cricket in the yard and he'll get over it I'm sure.

  4. Hey Warpig,

thanks for the encouraging comments. the lights that I am using are simply 8 bulb, 4' T5s. I know they lack the penetration however for my uses they seem to be working just fine. I'm using general hydroponics nutrients right now, Bloom and micro, according to the head formula. I'm also giving the plants a little bit of super thrive about once a week.

I'd be very interested in a smoke report as I too keen on growing this strain in coco and would like to know if it lives up to the hype on paper (such as the 25% thc levels). I think barney farm over rates thc ratings because they most likely grow their strains perfectly with the worlds most expereince nutrients (advance nutes).

I have BF lsd, but dont feel like the average potency was any where near the 24% they claimed on paper.

  6. hey totara

I have been doing a lot of research on the tangerine dream during this whole grow and as far as smoke reports go it seems to go either way. There are a lot of Barney's haters out there. I've seen comments such as " Barneys bought the cannabis cup with freebies" to " great yielding but some of the worst weed they've ever smoked". At the same time I've seen other journals and growers say that it is exactly as stated a fantastic uplifting sativa head high that's perfect for smoking all day while your doings things. I can say is one thing for sure the smell is spot on. Even now though my plants are a good way from finishing they are very resinous. Just a few light touches and when you smell your fingers it does in fact smell just like tangerines. Being that I'm three weeks out from harvests at least, I can't wait to sell them once they're fully matured and cured that it's going to be amazing.

My personal opinion on it from all the research that I've done, or rather the best way that I think I can explain it is like this an analogy - is like a ferrari. when tuned just right and properly maintained to specific specifications and ultimate driving experience can be had. That being said a poorly tuned and misdialed ultimate Italian sports car can be rendered nearly undrivable. The tangerine dream is like this. Done properly the results are exactly as touted however, if you miss a few steps. Under feed in the beginning or let your pH or your temperature or any of your other measurable metrics get out of whack either too far or for too long and I think this strain can take a big fat crap on you.

I will give an update on it when it's all said and done mind you I'm at least a month out from putting some cured TD in the old sovereignty. I'll probably post this smoke review on this thread as for some reason my journal never got any comments from anyone so I gave up on it.

as for the BF I'm surprised you're not happy with it. I actually grew some of that myself and even though I harvested it early (all trichs were clear and that calyx is had not swelled yet) that being said, it has been a long time since a smoke has put me out like that. I am a heavy heavy smoker and I was absolutely floored at how high was. Mind you I was growing SOG straight from clone no veg So I was basically just cola farming. Perhaps letting the plant put all its energy into such a small amount of Bud is what made the difference for me. I see you did yours in a screen, might I suggest trying to sea next time instead.I also tried the LSD in an aero System, I personally found it with the LSD the bigger the plant got the looser and less dense the buds got. I think SOG is where LSD can really shine.

Anyhow, thanks for taking a look and I will let you know how the smoke goes.

Sorry I didn't mean what i said with a negative connotation. I'm actually very happy with LSD and Barneys Farm and I don't buy into the hate towards them, as with any winner, people are going to be very critical regardless. Barneys farm spends 2 years and alot of money in devolping each strain, so I have faith that they are worthy of a prize, if not then at least some decent respect.

My LSD produced very impressive results given that I had serious heat issues, over fert and ph problems. Shes an easy plant to grow and one would need to be a noob to produce less than good buds. I grew with no training at all, yet still produced around 0.75g/watt with still alot of potential left to be had. I believe from my expereince and MrsEDs journal that ScrOG is the way to go to make her produce top notch bud and yeilds..

I believe there are two factors at play that contribute to less than par buds with a given strain. Firstly the pheno type is a big one. The difference between phenos with her where quite huge and unfortunately most of my clones were from an inferior odd ball pheno that matured too early and stressed easily, which really did not do LSD justice at all. Where as, my other pheno that I'm using this time around is amazing, everything that they claim on paper and more...... That leads me to my second factor, that is........ "the grower". I believe to produce top notch buds, one needs to be a top notch grower. I'm far from that and as I said above, I have a long way to go before reaching her true potential. (it was my first grow). So due to my lack of expereince I can not comment on the genetics overall, but from what I seen, the genetics are more than good enough to produce kickass buds.

Anyhow, back to my original point........ The claimed THC content on paper is the only quality I question because 24% is huge! So really its easy to produce good buds, but to yeild consistantly high potency buds, one needs to have everything dialed in smack on and give her alot of special attention........... But either way, LSD does not dissapoint and many other growers on this formum speak highly on her.

What I'm hoping is that tangerine dream can produce even better buds with similar amounts of effort.

    Cheers

  9. I definitely agree with you on this one. I don't care how much free but they gave away everybody at the cannabis cup and inferior crap strain simply is not going to win the cannabis cup and if it is really truly bad bad that it's going to lose its credibility in no time which I don't see high Times allowing to happen anytime soon.

I agree with you on both of these points as well. I actually started a couple seeds of the LSD and there was definitely one Fino that rose above the rest. That's one that I have them on now, and rainout is waiting for fill out enough to take a full set of clones. As far as the grower, I definitely agree with you there as well. I'm very new to growing. That being said I basically read all the major books out there. I downloaded the marijuana books torrent and I also downloaded the marijuana videos torrent. Being that I am injured right now and not able to do very much I've had a lot of time to watch all those videos many of them twice and I've read most of the books as well. While that being said I still lack the actual experience in a deftly shown in this grow. Early on I underwatered, under Fed, let the heat get out of whack, etc. etc.late in the grow I over fed. Also I think it really would've benefited from LSTing much earlier as it would've made many of those smaller buds that run down the centerwould've been much larger maybe even full coals themselves. All that being said I'm really looking forward to the next go around as I learned so much these first couple grows I really can't wait to start fresh.

on this note I can tell you that the tangerine dream is going to require more effort from my experiences so far between the two. It was touchier to stress I had two plants that matured early due to stress which I promptly chopped and smoked because I was out. The other thing to note is that the highs are very different between the LSD in the tangerine dream. The LSD is going to be of course that classic couch lock and by all reports the tangerine dream is a really uplifting energetic head high.

Anyhow thanks for stopping by and for your comments. I'm in the process of checking out your ScrOG grow right nowand it's definitely looks nice. I added a couple pics just for updates one of which is of my currently smashed to pieces hand. It's got quite a few pins in it holding it together due to the fact that I broke my wrist in six places and just for good measure also dislocated it LOL.
