Talking to Dr about MMJ

Discussion in 'Medical Cannabis: Treatments & Patient Experiences' started by Strikt, Nov 3, 2010.

  1. I am interested in obtaining a medical card in Ontario but I do not know how to go about bringing it up with my doctor.

Should I talk to the doctor who I have been going to for a while now or should I find a new doctor.
The one that I have now has tried many things to help the bursitis that I have in my shoulder, but with no avail. Would this give him more of an incentive to give marijuana a shot, knowing that a long list of other options has failed?

If I go to a new Dr. how do I know when to bring up medical marijuana. Is it best to visit them a few times, see what they can come up with and then when that fails ask them about marijuana, or should I just come straight out and say listen doc, my shoulder hurts, I cant sleep because I roll onto it in the middle of the night causing sharp pain leaving me wide a wake.

  2. a few visits and failed trys is probably your best bet,

"hey doc all this bullshit isnt working, i was doing research on the matter and discovered the option of mmj i didnt know canada had that" blah blah blah haha be oblivious to it.

  3. Ask your question over at treatingyourself.com . It's a nice Canadian MMJ forum. They also have past issues of their excellent magazine available on line- it's worth checking out!
