taking cuttings from a flowering plant?

  1. does this work?

i have quite a few small lower branches, some are completely shaded by the upper canopy and arent getting good light.

im leaving some as i think they will get some OK buds on, but was wondering if you can take cuttings off a flowering plant and what effect this has - does the bud just stop growing until the roots have developed or what?

    safe

  2. Yes, you can take cuttings from a flowering plant although not recommended as it tends to stress the plant when you switch back to 18/6 and may cause hermies.

  3. It depends on how long it has been flowering. It is possible but unless you are really skilled you run the risk of no roots from your cutting and killing your flowering plant. Also it's not cool to just cut off whatever branches aren't getting light, make sure you read a cloning guide before you start chopping anything thats not under the sun.
I would revegge one of your plants and then keep it as a mother.

  4. thanks for the feedback

why isnt it 'cool'... the plants are in there 7th week of flowering and the shaded branches just have shoots coming out from the branch itself, like no bud on whatsoever
