T5 vs MH for Mothers and Clones

    The size of my vegging grow tent is 2.5 x 5 x 6.5.

    I want to use this tent to keep 3 mother plants long-term, and 12-15 clones to a height of 8-10 inches.

    Would a 4' T5 Badboy fixture of 8 bulbs be good for this? Or should I use a 250 or 400 watt MH bulb instead?

    what kind of tent is that? and how are you sucking air out? id want to use the cfls but im a novice.

    I'd go with the T5's as well.

    Those Bad Boys are no fucking joke!

    If it's a 4' 8-bulb T5 then you're using 8x54w, 432 watts. Yes it will work, but why not just use the 400w MH?

    Because 432 watts is better than 400!!!

    Plus T5's run a lot cooler than MH.

    Just MO.

    I hear a 400w MH puts out more lumens than the equivalent wattage in flouro. Don't know the specifics though.

    Definitely right about the heat, I went with T5's because I couldn't afford cooling :rolleyes:

    metal halide puts 30,000 to 35,000 lumens a 4foot x 8foot t5 puts out 40,000 lumens sorry a 400 watt metal halide
